I’ll be honest, even if it is true and they backtrack on it, I don’t know that I’ll ever trust a company who clearly wanted to inflict this kind of DRM on gamers so much that they only changed their mind after it was obvious to a blind man it wouldn’t fly.
The fact that it was considered at all and even implemented, reversed or not, doesn’t say good things about MS.

I saw this coming, especially after they saw how Sony was getting all the love at E3. I agree with you, I won’t trust Mirocsoft either. I’m not getting either one any time soon but Microsoft can eat a bag of baby nuts.
Well you can bet that next console generation (if there is one) will be this kind of thing 100%. Microsoft were just trying to move onto the next step. It was just too much, too soon. All they were really trying to do was implement a console version of steam, and if you looked a little deeper, such as the “family” thing where it seemed like they were going to let you share games with 10 people or something, it was actually interesting. Sony, on the other hand, want to keep things like they are, which is fine. You can bet, though, that they will soon be pushing people to purchase the digital version of games as much as possible as opposed to the physical, and likely without the digital spine and expanded features (such as the “family”) that Microsoft had in place.
