TN THREAD - Dateline: How to catch a Oni

I’d love too, but I’m not sure if if I’ll be able to make it until late this week. Possible last minute trip for me. I’ll let you know.

Also, showing off Thor is causing trouble for others, getting ladies is making trouble for myself.

That’s cool. My professors might decide to spring a lot of assignments on me this week, so I really won’t know until late Wednesday or Thursday either.

You play Thor too? What’s your team/assist setup with him? I’m slogging away at him, but I’m always curious to see what other players are doing with him. Thanks in advance.

Who was it that used Thor against me in Losers Finals Saturday? Was that Tin Tin? I can’t wait to watch that video of me being completely frozen once I was cornered by Thor. Command grab combos are legit…

Buying this one day one XBLA.

I’ll get at you late this week, we’ll figure it out.

Thor w Smash, Trish w Hopscotch, X-23 w Ankle. Got a mid-screen start to corner finish combo 8.5 K 1 meter, or 2 meter DHC to either partner for about 1M damage. Really gotta work to get in with him tho. Haven’t worked with his DHC glitch yet.

You mean I could show off my ez mode Zero cross ups? k I might just do that.

Although Ill have to see about getting off work again… that didnt go too well last saturday, but the dude that usually works for me should be in town this weekend so there is hope

Top tier Thor strat: Press the back button during char select and pick anyone else…I kid I kid.

Anyway GGs to all who made it out to my house on Sat. Sorry we got cut short like we did. Usually we go till 2:00 a.m. I hope the pony was fun.

Bishop: Thanks for the dog comments man. Rotts are my favorites.

Interesting, I’m running Deadpool QuickWork, Thor Spark, and Doom Missiles. Doom missiles is indispensable for getting in, and DP assist sets up a nasty unblockable combo starter for Thor. You could likely do it with X-23, if you aren’t already.

From somebody I follow on twitter…

YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST FOLKS. lol

Thats why you only follow the MK twitter stuff

BigOpinion: It’s ok, we had one even more naive person on the Test Your Might MK forums say that PS3 was exact arcade of SSF4 and that is why it is used in tourneys.

That’s the best ever. A game that NEVER came out in arcades in that reiteration is the one just like the arcade. Of course, except for the little fact there’s a freaking 2 frame delay when you play the game. Anyone that has played the SSF4AE knows there is no latency, then when they play PS3 they are like, EHHHHH, WTF? The ONLY thing that PS3 and Arcade have in common is the speed. That’s it. Speed is closer on PS3 to arcade but there is button/input delay. I gotta say it was pretty funny people not realizing the PS3 thing for awhile when it was obvious there was something “off” about it, LOL!

Yes, “360” is slightly faster, but so are the home versions of MVC2 and CVS2 and ANY Naomi based game for Dreamcast which were all known as the “definitive” versions for console tournaments. I always shake my head at how the community sees one thing correct then gets selective memory when the EXACT same thing occurs with something like SF4 and just conveniently forgets about how black and white the option should be. It’s not that hard, PS3 version is not great, 360 version is, and so is the arcade version…

PS pad users won’t use a converter for some reason for 360. The thing has no lag and works well, not sure what the problem is…

LordJas: You’ve flip-flopped on MVC3 like 3 times now. You’re turning into Linuka.

I’m not a technology wizard so can you explain why there is a two frame difference? Is it an error by Capcom? Is it because of the differences in the PS3 and 360’s GPUs? You’d think Capcom would make identical games for the next gen systems (excluding minor graphical differences).

Absolutely, that Xconverter is straight baller. That’s going to be my pad of choice for MK, fuck the haters.

oh, and lmbo at the Jas comment.

Don’t leave me Jas I love you~`. - Marvel vs Capcom 3 Boxart, 2011

I suck @ SSF4, and I played on the PS3 and noticed the difference, it was pretty bad…

I have been meaning to ask if you all saw this? I love how Josh gets brought up in the comments on the first page. The one guy puts him down and tries to make it out like there is some huge rivalry between them. Josh and CJ like each other and get along fine. Adults are funny, these kids act more mature than a lot of adults do. It just makes me laugh!

Jason, who is that guy saying he beat Josh every game and doesn’t even play SSFIV. Josh could only remember some Honda player that consistently beat him.

mattwoo: I have no idea why it is there. I’ve heard everything from input delay on the USB port to just laziness, but I know like the arcade one the game is developed in 720p. I’m not a technological wizard either, but the 360 one slightly looks better too, but this is all besides the point. Usually developers “port” fighting games over to another system after the dev work is done on 360. A glaring exception to this is Tekken 6 which was developed on PS3 to begin with, but something like MK9 is 360 oriented and ported over to PS3 (like MK Vs DC was). The fact of the matter is sometimes things get lost in translation somehow somewhere and the input lag is there…some people notice it more than others but it’s the equivalent of playing “online locally on 360” when you play offline PS3.

Honestly, I wish it was perfect but it’s not and it drives me nuts when people don’t realize how bad it affects gameplay on that system for this particular game…

crs: dunno who that is, maybe Josh played random characters in casuals and lost to someone, who knows, but the problem that they are not realizing is in the internet age, it is a lot easier to become “good” at combos and training and stuff like that, there are just very “few” younger players starting out like there were back in the day…but it’s normal…I was 15 when I was doing well at SF2 when I started playing and most players were teenagers back then, it just seems most are now 20-27 and less new blood on the scene…Sabre is right about lots starting earlier on that end but I guess the emphasis is on how well CJ “can” do later on if he’s got the ability to beat top players in teams right now…

Dream:

I’m not great at SSF4 but I can tell the difference. I play on a PS3 at home and at the Memphis gatherings almost every setup is a 360. Plus I use a crappy SE stick for the 360 (I use a TE stick for the PS3) and that makes things worse. But I’ll have that arcade stick problem solved soon…
