I personally think that Haggar is not a good assist against Wolverine at intermediate or greater levels.
Haggar’s hitbox is just way too high for Wolverine to be worried about it. Wolverine’s normals are really good at avoiding Haggar and the time Haggar is most useful against Wolverine is after an air tech where you get to set up a good situation against him. As far as reversals against Wolverine are concerned I like both Tron and Felicia over Haggar thanks to the space they cover and what Dante gets afterward.
The only things that Lariat is exceptionally good against are one side of dive kicks which Dante already has tools to deal with at the range Haggar would be effective.
There’s not much you can do after a full combo with Taskmaster. You can OTG into assist, j.:s: if you still have an assist for some reason, but other than that, you can really only :df::h::h::h:, The Hammer, Volcano xx Beehive into Volcano xx Beehive again.
What are some good teams with Dante? Im trying to pick the guy up and not sure where to put him (although I feel like his best spot is 2nd in like any team.)My mains are V.Joe, Deadpool, Tron, and Morrigan. I also can kinda play Wolv Ryu and Chris.
Isn’t EM Disruptor strictly better in terms of how it compliments Dante’s mix-up? It’s faster and if it hits, it barely scales damage at all. It’s almost the exact same for combo extending except it does a little bit less damage. I personally like Molecular Shield more, but beam assists generally are quite good for Dante.
I was also wondering what’s the best team for dante. I want to create a team around him as a point character and was thinking about dante, mags, wesker, so i have a beam assist for approaches and a low one for unblockables. What are your thoughts on this? Any other ideas for the ideal dante team?
Yeah I think I might have to just suck it up and go back to Doom Beam with Dante. I was using molecular shield to try it out but the speed of Doom beam is so much better for Dante’s super quick teleport to left right people. You get some damage scale on the combo but if you got Dante up first fighting Wolverine and land something you just wanna burn the XF and kill him off any way.
I had the idea last night to try Dante Tron Felicia. Seems a little strange I know, and lacks a long distance assist, but two reversal assists (Tron of which I have a lot of experience with) can help w/ defense and Tron assist seems like it could be really good for setting up Felicia unblockables. I’m hoping I can use those to get into something like Dante combo to air tag Tron to DHC glitch back to Dante and do some damage. Since the Felicia setup pops them up a bit, I’m not sure if this combo would TOD or not, but till I try it. (grounded I’m certain it would, easily)
Likewise Tron on point could benefit from a low assist to go w/ her air dash H’s, and Chrisis recommended Weasel Shot w/ Dante to help get Tron or Felicia in if he’s still around, which is probably a good idea. My original idea was actually Dante Dormammu Tron (which Ill go back to if this idea doesn’t work), but as long as I can get Dante within Tron assist range, feels like this could be a potentially nasty setup w/ the easy unblockables. Thoughts?
I dont really think that EM disruptor gives more benefits to dante than Plasma Beam
Plasma beam stays there for a lot longer, given you access to a lot more benefits
for example, if I do a combo that ends with reverb shock, sometimes, instead of going for the fireworks, I let the opponent get knocked down, call doom and then teleport. I time it so the plasma beam hits meaty, giving me a free mixup on my opponents wake up, and if I just finished hitting you with along combo that ends with a reverb shock (no meter used yet), chances are that you would die if you don’t block this next one
Now, Its worth mentioning that uni beam is available too, but uni beam makes the character stay right there where he is, while plasma beam elevates you a little, giving a lot of time to juggle if you happen to land it randomly.
One technique I use against wesker is to make him think I will make an obvious teleport (they usually try to get out with their own teleport), and call doom to get them in the other side of the screen. It doesnt look like it, but doom leaves you there long enough for Dante to wave dash into st A all the way to the other corner (after wesker’s ground teleport that is)
Plasma Beam’s juggle properties also allow for plenty of resets after ending a combo with reverb shock cancelled to fireworks.
If your close enough, you can wavedash under after the air recovery (with doom to hit once you crossup), or call doom and teleport in a way that doom hits exactly after you teleport. Most people are used to being hit after the teleport, but with doom they had to be blocking before you do it, cause if not they would be hit by doom almost inmediatly. If you do it right it even gives you enough time to land and then start your combo, so its totally hit comfirmable.
Also, Doom is tall so plasma beam is great for mid air play. Its important to note that it doesnt hit Ammy, so be careful in that matchup not to use it when she’s in the ground (since teleport is not that useful in that matchup).
The assist can also quickly get rid of unwanted assists that arent invincible in your way in, and it also counters Hidden Misiles assist, so I have yet to feel frustrated with that (not that I havent lost against it, just that it never got into my nerves like I know it does for some of you)
the last detail I’ll say is that well as you can see in my av my team can use the glitch (I use them Dante, Storm, Doom in that order) so I dont really feel that the damage reduction done by plasma beam affects me much since I can ocacionally sneak in an air tag between mixups. I dont know why, but if I happen to land at least 2 long combos with dante in a match, it almost seems that nobody ever counters an air exchange if I sneak it on my first launch on the next combo, and I guess you know the rest.
Plasma Beam is J.D approved for Dante :lovin:
I honestly feel this relation is a little bit like Mag/Psylocke in MVC2 (Given MVC3’s new engine)
Yeah being a Doom player myself it’s obvious that while EM Disruptor assist doesn’t scale it has terrible active frames compared to Doom Beam. Doom Beam doesn’t keep them in place forever like Unibeam but it keeps them there longer and the fact that he appears far behind Dante is great for ensuring he can’t be touched by most characters since Dante is going to instantly close the gap on them after the teleport. The damage scaling is significant but if you can manage to do a long enough combo afterwards to build 3 meters you can blow them up with the level 3.
I think the second position is a best place to put a character like Tron. Tron is just not scary in the back and people are using strategies more often like burning their XF early to kill off the first character so that the opponent is forced to use XF with their 2nd character because they know Tron in the back is not going to be winning a fight unless something magical happens. Felicia in the back is probably the most slept on level 3 XF character in the game. Even level 2 XF Felicia is enough to run through a team but level 3 is just retardation. She gets her own assist to open people up and is like 45 percent faster and gets infinites. This is on top of having a 5 frame command grab with great range and a ridiculous air throw reset game. Easily one of the best in the game to have in the back. I’d rather fight XF3 Sent any day of the week over XF3 Felicia.
Completely theory fighter, but after snap back, would it be worthwhile to force a 50/50 with million carats xx DT -> teleport/jump? If it gets blocked, you can reset pressure with vortex.
So I tried out Taskmaster Dante Sentinel last night, and it worked REALLY well. Or at least, my Taskmaster worked really well. Not to say Dante was BAD, but I found that I’m so used to teleport shenanigans with quick assists for fast left/rights, that with the slower activating drones I found myself kind of unsure how to use them optimally (and safely). Sure I had SOME ideas, like teleporting when theyre about to connect, or maybe going for a random Killer Bee because I know drones keep me un-punished (hella scrubby, but hits a lot), or doing like Hysteric xx DT, call drones, teleport, yadda yadda.
But really, since I know for a fact Drones are great for Dante, but can’t really provide any evidence other than “Dante is awesome” and “drones are awesome” I was wondering if anyone who has played this duo had any fun setups or sequences to share, either for rushing or zoning (preferably both, really). Any kind of tactical ideas you’ve found effective I can play with and add to the tool box. I’m all set with Dante and task arrows, but if Task gets killed, well, you know. Thanks!
