@d3v any direction / link you can point me to? I’ve googled for hours and couldn’t find anything solid. Thanks Pare!
^beat me to it.
Timerboards are common, I own a few for various consoles, but they don’t have the typical pinout that’s common for JAMMA+ cabinets. That means they cram 6 buttons (or more) on the JAMMA edge, as well as do MVS style stereo audio. they’re unusable in cabinets without modifying the wiring, or using a passthrough adapter. I’ve also seen instances where the more-poorly made ones caused fires. YMMV.
thanks @"Lemony Vengeance" - can’t you link me to some options?
I should have stated this earlier but here’s why I’m looking into this… some of my friends that own small businesses have asked me to build them cabinets for their guests / staff / break rooms. I already have built a few of these setups for personal/recreation use however never had to build one for a commercial setting. For example my buddy owns a barber shop and what better way to kill time while waiting for your cut than playing some SF. As you know most small biz owners don’t have a lot cash to throw around so we all agreed we’d make it a pay per play system and therefore the unit will possibly pay for themselves and then some over time. Basically I’m just looking for the best/easiest way to make this happen… Thanks in advance everyone.
I personally make adapters that allow for console usage in cabinets, but if you’re looking for something that is time based and will make money, the timer board is the way to go. Here’s one for the 360:
this is crazy expensive though. they tend to raise prices until they get a restock so keep an eye on this.
heres one for $60 on newegg

and one for 76.62 USD on AWUK:
It’s in my edited post.
Thanks @d3v !
@"Lemony Vengeance" can you show me the ones you make? I build my cabs from scratch and won’t be using a JAMMA connector for an existing cab so maybe you have what I’m looking for…
The adapters I make are all JAMMA based, mostly for cabinets that have 15KHz monitors. If you’re going to be using a VGA monitor, I personally would padhack a couple of controllers and call it good. These would not have any ability to take cash and work the way timer boards work, though.
Right… thats my dilemma… good stuff though…
You can try something like this, which is similar to what the operators here use.
^ this would work with ANY input that is USB based and basically cuts the USB signal once time’s up. Remap the buttons as explained earlier in the post and you’re good to go.
Wow… This definitely will work! And for 30 bucks shipped… Can’t go wrong…
