I just did the ultimate mod (minus the post it notes) and so far itās great. I added a home depot spring and put electrical tape on the actuator (1 layer where it hits the switches, 1 ft around the part that hits the gate). I was using Scotch 88 tape, which is thicker than normal, so I had to take two layers off of the part hitting the gate, but now it feels wonderful. The actuator sticks slightly against the gate, but not enough to effect play. Itās so slight that you have to look for it to notice it. Iām hoping that with wear the stickiness will wear off. Someone suggested machining a new actuator with a slightly larger diameter; if anyone has the tools to do that Iām sure lots of people (myself included) would be willing to pay well for it.

I bought a JLW-TM instead of a JLF since itās a little stiffer. However I found it to be too stiff, is there a way to fix this, loose it a little bit (not as much as the JLF)?

From what Iāve read so far before attempting thisā¦the only part of the mod that is semi permanent is the spring. Yea, I know they wear out as well but itāll still be good after a long time of playing.
The post it approach will wear down quickly since itās paper and the tape will also become uneven because you arenāt doing the same motions equally. I looked at the heat shrink approach but, that tends to have a mushy feeling when playing.
Itās not too big a deal with me since I like the JLF just fine but, I did order the seimitsu spring cause a little more stiffness couldnāt hurt no homo

Seriously though- yeah, I actually ended up undoing this mod after I tried it. It didnāt really accomplish what I wanted out of it, the switches were sticking randomly, and it just didnāt feel comfortable. I decided not to fuck with any more variations of the mod and just go back to stock (except the dual spring mod), because it just feels better imo. Iād like the deadzone to bea liiitle smaller, so maybe Iāll mess with it again in the future and not do so much tape or whatever, but I donāt think itās that big of a deal.
Guess I did save me some hassle by just choosing the dual spring. I just installed it and felt it was too stiff but, a few thousand matches ought to loosen it up. 
Gonna install it on my EX2 as well. (already did it on the Hrap2)
The stiffness does bring me back to the time I used happ. Man my hand hurts.

lol, yeah itās a little stiff, but once I got used to it and went back to one with the normal spring I didnāt like it as much anymore. Truth is once you play on any stick long enough you probably just get used to it and changing it feels weirdā¦ I doubt it helps my game at all, I just got used to having it that way, haha.

I am curious if you can add an extra spring into an LS-32 to tighten that up. My LS-32 is pretty worn out after a couple years of heavy play and I would like to add another spring to it to make it a little stiffer than it was when I first bought it.
Why not just replace it with a new LS-32 spring?

I have an extra LS-33 spring laying around, plus I very much enjoy American sticks with a lot of resistance so Iād like to see how hard I can make the LS-32.

even the LS-56 (the stiffest of all) cannot come close to happ/iLā¦ and itās WAY stiffer than an LS-32/33 or JLF spring (even 2 of any of them together)ā¦
I need to try 2 LS-56 and see how I like itā¦ but they wonāt fit on a jlf unless you cut itā¦

the L-52 is a stiffer spring then the L-33 but u can also buy them at home depot

This mod sucks, I tried it and I just ended up using a stock JLF spring. You will never be able to get it as stiff as a Happ/IL stick.
I gotta agree with Manman about the stick sticking and just feeling shitty with the Seimitsu springs in it.

Iāve tried variations of this mod a few times. like many people have said, its a process of trial and error to find what you feel is best.
Currently on my HRAP2SA, i have added 2 thin layers of heat shrink wrap to the throw of the acuator and have decided to leave the the spring and engage stock. Now i just have a shorter throw which I personally like this the best as i can play fighting games and shmups with the same stick without much difficulty. I measured the diameter with a digital caliper and it reads at about 12.54mm.
I think its worth playing around with but tastes may vary from game to game. If you canāt end having multiple sticks for different games trying to find a nice middle ground has seemed to work for me.

well for the record I never said the spring feels shitty, it was the other parts of the mod that I didnāt like. I think itās really just preference over everything else. I did a TON of trial and error and varriations on the mod but just liked the stock feel more. that was mostly for the throw/engage stuff though. the spring mod is simple, and for quite a while I liked (or thought I liked) it more. then I got a new stick for a project I wanted to do, and playing with them side by side I ended up liking the looser feel more. nothing to do with the mod being bad or difficult, just my pref. on the feel of it.
