My suggest to you is just talk and be active. I agree with the others and not so much the op. I know the boards are not as active but i contribute as much as a i can. The ken board is DEAD but i started a vid page and put all the ken vids i can in there. I don’t care if i’m the only person contributing to the board, but someone does. Like it would be great if all the potential and current lili players help build that board. Imo i think it is the best character board in terms of info and input from actual lili players and i’m always checking up on that board. I might as well go start up the Lili match up guide.
I agree that people need to post in the character forums instead of only posting in the general discussion forum for sfxtk. Even if it’s just your experiences of online of offline that day, post your experience. The little things matter people
I mean it doesn’t even matter if people don’t have experience or tech to share. Just ask a question, post one of your matches or someone else’s matches. That’s always better than not posting anything at all.
People don’t seem to realize how hurtful it is for a fighting game to have dead character forums. General discussion boards don’t mean shit. Personally if I could I would erase this entire section so that people would be forced to discuss gameplay elsewhere on the SFxT forums.
And OP is right, this entire section is mostly filled with rant threads and negative threads that give this community a bad image. There’s only 3-4 threads like Jibbo’s stream and the online tournament thread that are good. The rest is just ranting, whining, asking for nerfs, asking if the game is dead etc.
AE character boards make it look like SFxT is a 10 years old MK game no one is playing anymore. But we all know there’s a lot of people still playing. So why are they hiding? Why aren’t more people posting in their character boards? I don’t know but it irritates me too.
Honestly, I’m glad someone had the guts to create a thread like this. Because right now it feels like 99% of players are fucking SCARED to post in their respective character forums. Which is incredibly stupid and that needs to change fast.
Okay now you sound really angry at us. I’m guilty as charged! I really hope you don’t get moderation rights around here or we’re all dead!
Fuckin Hades has spoken, start posting in the Hwoarang and Nina threads in the morning Thancruz.
aren’t you the guy that almost single-handedly renewed interest in Striker for a brief period in mk by doing ALOT of videos for him?
Probably because they are busy playing and improving their game, plus they wish to avoid inundation of endless questions, heckles, etc.
I am not very active of late, due to RL responsibilities, and I lack recording software. However, I do understand the perspective of the OP, whilst also seeing valid points in other posts.
Truly, without action, there is no reaction. Meaning, if we don’t share information, maintain civility between ourselves and actively seek to push the envelope of the game, then others will not revive interest nor become interested in the game.
If the evolution of this game (or any game you love) is your objective, then be an ambassador for the game and the community (given you have taken care of your RL responsibilities.) We must also welcome newer players and accept their lack of knowledge and encourage them to seek information, work hard to succeed and foster enthusiasm.
When we have fun playing the game and disclosing strategies, etc. others will see this and want to have fun as well.
The more we complain and berate each other, the less people will want to get involved in building upon this game and joining in.
I am not on any high horse, I can’t even consider myself a part of this community as I have contributed very little, from not being an active opponent-to not posting in the character forums, et al. This is just an observation opinion, what-have-you. Take what you wish, or not.
I’m a Fighting Gamer. I’m no Daigo, JiBbo, RH, Infiltration, etc. I just love fighting games, and want them all to succeed.
While I understand your point that new players should find new tech for their characters, I think you are missing one point of what the op is trying to say and that is that the interest for this game is dying. I mean all it takes is commenting on your online experiences in the character forums or just posting about anything in character general discussions in general. I’m not trying to get on your case or anything but I think that’s the message that he’s trying to convey.
NO worries here. I was evading the lack-of-interest point, as it obviously begets complaints/negativity…(see Ranting thread…)
They chose to force this game out, rather than refine it & work out all the bugs, and exert the effort to make this game great. The timing of release for this game is also poor. imo, as there are so many other FGs that have been released this year, some with long-standing fanbases.
Not many will support a game with SFxT’s history of flaws, when given a choice between this game and TTT2, KOF13, P4, SC5, etc.
Interest may wane, yet CAPCOM hasn’t given up on the game completely, and neither have the core supporters, nor have I lost hope for this game.
As JiBbo stated in his Jin tutorial video, (though not verbatim) many players fail to see the potential of this game and/or want to bandwagon other gamers’ negative (though perhaps truthful to some extent) opinions.
I’ll be honest, from the onset of the thread I felt it would attract more negative attention than getting people to actually post on the character forums. I’m very glad to see I was wrong about that. So hey, if it does get more people to post in the character forums (meaning soe of my questions there will get answered and I can answer some questions!), then I will gladly have my first post in here ridiculed to death. :-p
