Yeah, Aris is a shithead and what he was doing was sexual harrassment. He should probably face some reprecussions either civil or legal for his actions as he has harrassed a person to great distress and poorly represented the FGC as a whole in a public setting.
That said, quitting the show and leaving on stream was not a good idea on Miranda’s part. She should have first spoken with Aris off air to make sure he understands that she feels her boundaries are being violated, then spoken with the show staff about it. Putting all this out in the public eye is just going to bring MORE harrassment her way as a bunch of internet tough guys are going to get mad at her and people are going to flock to the drama like hyenas to carrion.
Also: we’re all making the whole thing worse be drawing even more attention to it and prolonging the drama, what she needs is a bit of quiet time away from the community to get all her ducks in a row and figure out what she wants to do from this point forward.
That said it’s too bad people like Triforce and Ciji ‘Starslay3r’ Thorston are already using her misfortune as a method to propell them back into relevency by trying to get their two pieces in while they desperately scramble to be relevent. And people like marn are posting about how she should just man the fuck up and take sexual harassment, all this in his offtime from stealing people’s PSVitas on stream, ruining GG, and representing madkatz as a brand.

Yikes. That was some horrible stuff coming from that youtube video. I’ve heard Aris on commentary before and, although crude, I never thought twice about it. Then again I never really heard him talk in such a way continually as he did in Cross Assault.
It seems pretty cut and dry here though. Its sexual harassment no way around it. Doesn’t matter if Miranda fought back or not or laughed it off, doesn’t matter if that’s how Aris is, doesn’t matter if 75% of the FGC thought it was hysterical and is accepting of attitudes like this. A court of law will consider it sexual harassment especially with the video proof. People may call it a double-standard as Aris has made similar derogatory remarks in a similar homosexual fashion, but in reality its sexual harassment there too. Its just no one reports it. I am concerned about how this will play out as it can probably affect what happens going forward in the FGC.
Also I’m not sure how people can in any way defend his actions here. Again I don’t dislike Aris, I find him funny. But you can’t defend him without saying sexual harassment is ok in a situation like this. The archived footage proves that Miranda slowly became more and more uncomfortable with the situation and he kept poking at her and being more creepy. Aris was in no way right in this situation at all despite his known humor and antics. He went too far.
You’re not really listening. Superyan should have spoken up sooner if it bothered her, yes. But you seem to be suggesting that it bothering her at all is her fault, like she somehow has less of a leg to stand on because she doesn’t want to be sexually harassed, simply because the person sexually harassing her is known to be a jerk. You are effectively saying that people like Aris should be tolerated by the community, and at the same time if no one who’s bothered by that speaks up, it’s their fault for having problems with it.
Can you honestly tell me you don’t see the conflict of interest there? If you aren’t bothered by Aris you should support him, and not the people who are bothered by him? Then why speak up at all, if you’re just going to be told to just deal with it when you do? That’s what is so bad about this. It’s a catch 22, and you’re buying into it.
And all of this defense of Aris because he’s hype? Again, I call bullshit. Publicly humiliating people on the basis of their race, sex, creed, sexual orientation, nationality etc. is not hype. There’s this myth that hype and showing some respect are these binary, irreconcilable things, and they just plain aren’t. This isn’t even really about “E-sports” or old-school vs. new-school. This is some people just needing to learn some fundamental facts about what is and is not acceptable behavior in the real world, because they’ve been sheltered from reality in this really insular community.
You should go look for videos of Aris telling other dudes they smell nice while they’re saying, “stop that” in plain English. Maybe then I’d believe you when you say he treats everyone equally badly.

People start drama like this because it is a reality show and they got noticed for it. This is actually light stuff compared to what happens on other reality shows. Aris is just trying to be entertaining, even though he didn’t go about it in a good way. It’s good that Super yan left the show, she knew she couldn’t deal with it anymore, and she probably knew she wasn’t going to win the $25,000 anyways. I think she made the right choice for some one with her circumstance. I do wonder though if she will quit tournaments entirely after this.
