In my mad nerd rage over this Aris business, I tried to make a clever comparison between internet personalities and stupidity. Clearly, it wasn’t that clever.
Luke McKinney is a columnist at Cracked.com who wrote an extraordinarily dumb article on “sexist superhero costumes” (quotes are mine) and, when commenters called him on his stupidity, wrote another actual article defending it. It was full of flames even the least flame-savvy of SRKers would laugh at.
Anywho, back to Aris. What a fucking slimeball. Seriously, he’s making my vagina feel dirty, and I’m a dude.

Topics like this are part of the problem. Rants add to the perception of drama regardless of what they are actually trying to say. Stop caring so much and just play the games you love.
That’s a very uneducated thing to say. Freedom of speech shouldn’t be used to harass, or threaten. That’s like going to an airport and saying, “EVERYONE HANDS UP, I HAVE A BOMB IN MY BAG.” Those words have dire consequences. And you will be put to jail just for using those words or worse. Freedom of speech pertains to having your own opinion and thoughts and sharing them, not harassing or threatening people with words that insult a persons sex, race, religion, etc. Wise up son as well as anyone else who agrees with your opinion.

The games I love are played with people, hence the term, “community”. Perspectives like the one that Aris expressed are actively hurtful to the inclusiveness of this community, not to mention personally repulsive.
Voicing disapproval of bad behavior is necessary if you want that behavior to change. If more people let folks like Aris know that we do not accept this type of behavior, nor do we think it’s “normal”, then things will gradually change. It’s kinda that whole, “active member of society” thing some of us are so fond of.

You are exaggerating. You are also normalizing sexism/racism/etc. Harassing people is aberrant behavior. What Aris did is not normal, nor is it accepted by most members of this community.
No, I think your problem is that you hang out with the wrong crowd which has turned you into a rotten person making you believe that 90% of the SRK community harasses and threatens people.
