I don’t know it seems pretty sad to waste that much time making long ass videos of some guy you don’t like playing a game poorly. At least he is making money off what he’s doing. I don’t like the guy either, he’s a prick, but he isn’t as bad as you guys make him out to be at least at ST. He seems like a troll to me, look how many peoples’ skin he’s gotten under.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but I could care less if me makes money or not. The “This is how you don’t play” videos are funny as fuck and I hope DSP doesn’t go under because then those mock videos of him would cease.

He talks about it a lot like he was something special, he really wasnt. He knows that too which is why hes stopped going to tournaments. Itd be one thing if it was just a persona for his show, but he really is a miserable pile of crap. I guess he didnt want to make friends with other players or else he would still be going to tournaments and hed become a better player.

The dude may be an idiot when it comes to gaming but whoever is helping him with his channel behind the scenes knows how to take advantage of how the system works. He posts several vids daily where each vid is forgettable content that only takes several minutes to produce, and they all get ~4000 views. Either he just plays a game for several minutes minutes, or vlogs about random stuff for several minutes. This is content that is strictly designed to make easy money off of the ad revenue system. If you start looking at most of the 100k+ subs channels on youtube you’ll start to see that they all do exactly the same thing and have enough people who will eat it up.
tl;dr don’t hate the players, hate the game.
Yeah, he essentially plays anything that has a high search result in Youtube. That’s why he plays all the new games and (partially) why he doesn’t give a fuck about actually learning how to play the game and get through it as quickly as possible.
Oh don’t get me wrong. If he’s really pulling down that kind of cash then more power to him I say. I mean, he’s still probably actually an asshole IRL but I can’t fault a man for making that kind of bank in today’s economy.

Making money from let’s plays was always sketchy, but the new system on youtube seems just as bad, only in the opposite direction. It’s really bizarre to me that a game publisher can start monetizing gameplay matches/reviews/whatever that they’ve never even seen, let alone had a role in creating.
Imagine twitch.tv started siphoning all ad revenue generated by streamers like spooky, directly to capcom/snk/etc. It’s pretty much the same thing.
