There’s a lot of shit on here that people have just forgotten or wasn’t archived because of forum crashes/etc. Mr. Darkness/STA was comedy, but lovelessemotion vs SNAAAKE/S.AM vs. SRK was the original hoax. SRK defended lovelessemotion (because yellow fever), even some people said they saw her at Evo. Shit was hilarious, but then the truth came out. Don’t lie on SRK yo, also props to FlipKev for that STA breakdown. Nobody saw that shit coming.
Best year was 2003 by far. By then, akumachan had enough and stepped down, replaced by drunkengameplayer (who I didn’t vouch for, it should’ve been Weeks). Spac Lock/[ESC] Plan was running around getting people with those MS Paint Penis avs, shit was killer comedy. Mr. Wizard banned the SRK Imperial Army, Bloody didn’t run off to Gaia yet, and Red Queen was bitchmade. That thread “What’s wrong with kids these days?” was pretty good too (SA.M hollering at teenage young girls on AIM)

thanks man: everybody seems to be recovering now after being knocked the fuck out. thankfully(?) they got it early while resources were still most available. i’m sure everybody is pretty aware that testing previously was just not happening. now we’re testing but are quickly getting to the point where hospitals are running out of resources. fun times. overwhelming. the stopped economy is going to fuck people right up. love and health to all y’all.
i for one look forward to the TP money matches at evo 2020: online edition.

i was never on this mystical team i saw it was a cool avatar, and i played with people such as pablo the mex (who i could beat at will back then sometimes even with low tier characters) who were rocking this avatar, so i rocked the avatar too. i remember people messaging me asking if they could join. this was before esports was a thing. lol

I don’t think I was there for that one but I do remember VDO at FR a few times. He trolled the shit out of people with Yama in CvS2. I somehow got into a hotel room he was in playing CVS2 games one year. So many people were trying to get in this one room and whoever had the room was telling people to GTFO as they tried to come in the room. I think the guy I was following was told to play elsewhere and that was my ride to Final Round so I was going to leave with him. I saw 3S being played, but I was like, “yeah they look pretty good at 3S I’d get my ass beat anyway” so I was going to head back to my own room. I wore an R.P.D. shirt like a fucking dork and someone from the room was like, “yo it’s RPD rookie!” And the guy at the door said okay you can come in.
Then someone else was let in the room and they asked me if I was RPD. And then VDO on other side of the room was like, “Okay who the fuck is RPD rookie?” and immediately I was like “I’m nobody, I just play Q.” and they thought that was the funniest shit. They had CvS2 going on another tv in the room and that’s where VDO was. I think Justin showed up at one point to play CvS2. That was back in the day when he used to show up to play a set to collect his money from a money match and bounce to the next room that wanted to play him. So we had two TVs going one with cvs and 3S, and the room was packed with people.
I think I was playing this Chun player and if so that means I must’ve been losing. I think he was using her crouching mk pretty well and I was too dumb to react right. I just crouched in the corner and started spamming Q’s medium kick in a rhythm. I think I did like six or seven of those in a row and VDO out of nowhere said, “ I don’t know what the fuck is going on over there but all I hear is Nnnh! Nnnh! Nnnh!” Whole room laughing their ass off. I lost the match but we were all laughing so good times!

The main thing I remember Emblem Lord from was in the early days of Super SF4, where he went to all of the character subforums and made a thread asking for matches, promising to do a write-up of the Sagat matchup afterwards. I always thought that was really cool.
In soviet Russia this ass is still forum.
