That’s mostly because of their assist characters. Brightside’s team doesn’t have full screen beam coverage so it’s risky to fight straight on unlike Otavio’s. His team back then also had very limited neutral support which is why he has to pick his spots carefully. The thing I like about that team composition is that you’ll hardly get happy birthday’ed.
Ididnt even expect an ansewer, and thought Id justshare my observation, and am astounded on how you can explain their playstyles. It makes sense and is just so eye opening. Thanks Raoh, you know yer stuff!
I actually am most profecient (relative term) with Dante and Iron Man, but find that unibeam comes out too slow. It almost requires u to read your opponent, and defly cannot be used on reaction (like Magnetic Blast)… However im perplexed right now in deciding between an anti air, otg, or beam assist for slot number 2 on my spidey X doom team ?
I like Spidey/Doom<>Dante or Spidey/Doom/IM. If you’re running Dante, you don’t really need missiles since you’re going to be extending combos with Dante so just use plasma beam and jam session. For the latter team, just switch assists plasma+repulsor or missiles+unibeam.
Heh, it actually makes a lot of sense, good call. So is good to sub in and out characters and change assists for matchups, or should i focus everything on a single team? Im so psyched if i can get Dante or Iron Man in the mix.
I was thinking about X23 and her loe hitting, and otg ankle slice. But in practice it gets blown out of the water. U can actually call x while missiles are raining down (after 3rd hit) and my idea was to lock em down with hiddrn missiles, call x while pinned and put into a hi/low unblocable. Problem is that there is a gap between missiles and ankle slice that the opponent can jump jp and chicken block. All around ankle slice seems to get own up too often. Could this work ya think, im not really sklled enuf to know?
The idea for picking assists in general is to get one neutral and one combo extender and to at least make sure that both assist characters have decent synergy. Any other configuration that isn’t similar to this may encounter problems in the long run, imo.
Let’s take your example, I don’t see any synergy between Doom and X23 especially with hidden missile assist. This team falls apart if Spidey gets knocked out or is snapped back compared to a more solid team of say, Spidey/Doom/Dante.
Thanks. All this advice is greatly appreciated. Wouldve been hoorible to find this out after investing tons of time in the wrong character!
Im ok with Dante too, and my spidey combos are almost down. Just gotta get Doom up to speed. I thought his b&b was cake bc ive seen it done so many times. Its actually a bit involved, nothing i cant handle. His air combos feel a lot eaiser than Ironmans, and I can do his infinity (in training).
Hey fellas, I been reading the thread for a while now and I’ve been maining Spidey since my first day with the game. He is by far my favorite character. I go by RTB | Trent2Tall. This is my first tournament in a while. While I only found this one match on stream, I wanted to know your opinions on my Spidey play, my team, and my strategy. The link is here and we my match starts at around 24 minutes. http://www.twitch.tv/kpbfgc/b/346176452 that’s the link, looking forward to your replies!
I don’t think you have used Dorm’s dark matter at all which is quite weird since it’s one of his good moves and can also be special (teleport*) cancelled. You also don’t seem to mind your assist calls. Spidey isn’t the character that can effectively protect assist calls so you have to be wary of calling assists. You were also too aggressive at times especially against a ton of hit boxes on the screen. I figured that you were going to have a really hard time playing against Morri+Doom because you don’t have an assist to snipe Doom.
I think you should use plasma beam instead to support your aggressive playstyle and just use black hole instead to extend your combos. If you feel that plasma bea scales your combos too heavily, attempt to reset them with an UWT. Just make sure you don’t rely on it too heavily.
Thank you very much. I can see the benefits of Plasma Beam and I can extend combos with that too if I really wanted. Plus, it helps out Dormammu as well. Also, is there a decent way to confirm off of plasma beam?
Hey guys. Back again and playing alot of Mahvel (and VF5:FS) lately, and decided to make a vid. The video’s not a big deal. Its short and its a tip for newer Spidey’s, the Dash-in to confirm your combos. Hopefully more to come soon.
Or you could simply use c.:h:, :l: webswing which will always work. Although that being said dashing (and yes I do tap forward twice) c.:l: after a hit confirm from the air has become second nature for me.
s. was as just part of combos imo so that doesn’t bother me. I would never use it for the first initial hits.
Yeah, c.H–>web swing L will work, but that’s a little specific with what I wanted to cover. Like for example, I personally try to use more combos that have web throw as the first special move, and this vid i wanted to have it apply to things like that.
As for the double tap forward thing, I’m glad you mentioned that, I might re-render a new copy of the vid to express that I was wrong about that, or just add a youtube annotation. thx for the reply
Good stuff. Never used 2 button dashes for jump-ins though. I like Spidey jump-in confirms with s:l: since it conditions you to do the same whenever you land a stray air to air hit. Took a while for me to get used to before because I was so used to doing dash in c:l: for combos back when I was playing XMvsSF.
