Spidey generally does do better with beam
Yeah I wholeheartledy agree. Missiles are vulnerable for too long and while they’re amazing while out, Spidey can’t really cover doom like characters with swords or armored moves can, you get a lot of damage having missiles avaiable, but I don’t feel it helps your game as much as other assists…people just chicken block when missiles are out and if they’re not fullscreen away from you and you call missiles you’re really pushing your luck. Missiles suffer the same problem as sent drones, which is imo spidey’s best assist, just they’re attached to an overall better character.
Like noel said, plasma beam beats other assist calls, which Spidey does poorly. Though, while beam assists are great, I don’t think Spidey gets as much out of them as teleport characters. They’re not true lockdown assists and you’re almost never in position to capitalize off a beam assist hit, except Iron Man’s (which scales the combo like crazy).
One thing I find interesting in Chris’ team is that apparently nobody on east coast uses vajra assist, whereas in west coast everyone runs it (kinda like phoenix and sentinel situation in vanilla lol). Vajra assist alone kills that morrigan zoning.
Well yeah, Renhoff was running Beam for the rest of the tourney I think. He just used Missiles to try to counter pick Chris G’s Morrigan/Doom team.
Well yeah, that’s why lots of Spidey players like to go with Arrow type assists.

Edit: Beam really is better especially for that match up. Missiles’ main use is for combo extension and some pseudo lockdown.
It’s all a matter of preference, really. Hidden Missiles appears to do more for us, and he already has Frank to cover his ass. Good stuff, Renhoff!!!

Yeah, after the match, I was thinking to myself, “why didn’t I just go with Plasma Beam to stop his Doom’s hidden missiles?”
Then Noel told me about that in some casuals after the finals. But yeah, I’m gonna do that from now on.

I’m supposed to be doing the the NY vs LI bar fights thing, playing against Rahsaan (should be fun).
Unfortunately, I wasn’t invited to Curly Mustache (cause no one knew who I was until I played at Savage Saturday’s over the weekend), and I can’t really make any tournaments during the weekdays because I work nights. But yeah, the next definitive “tournament” I go to will be the NY vs LI bar fights… I’ll be reppin LI, even though I don’t technically live there right now, lol.
Also, thanks dude. You guys should know that I actually dropped Spider-Man because I didn’t like his loss of damage potential when this game first came out. But after some requests from fellow players to pick him up again, and looking at the crazy **** you guys have been churning out on these boards, I picked him up again and realized that he’s tons more fun compared to his Vanilla incarnation. Thanks all.
The buffs he got actually made him better and more fun to use. You guys are lucky you get lots of competition to test out your stuff. Here in Brisbane, the UMVC3 capital of Aussie, you only actually get to meet the decent players every three months. Makes me a bit jelly. 
same in UK unless u live in one of the major cities the FGC seems to be no existent :’( anyone know a site which is for Uk players looking to doing the whole tournament thing? im not that good but be nice to have some real life people to play with and get some feedback opposed to just ranked matches and people teabagging after they beat u once lol, also i would like to play against alot of you guys.i know i live in the UK but i have a fairly good connection by england’s standards anyway

I truly believe that this Spider-Man board is the best one on SRK. Not only is it active, but everyone on here is trying to find some new technology unlike Wesker players who use and abuse teleport, j.:s:, Magic Series. Once I figure out how to use my capture card, I’ll be uploading videos too (need a few cords).
I think it’s more so people trying to retain info for majors. I don’t have time for that.

won a local tourney today!
skip to about 2:09:00 in, i play the semifinals and finals match one after the other. those were the only two that i played on stream for (sorry for the lack of commentary, apparently they didn’t have mics set up)
made a small change to my team which made it go from a little more fancy to a lot more practical, switched hawkeye’s assist from poison tip to greyhound and i’m already seeing results.
still dropped a bunch of stuff, but i’m pretty satisfied. also the first time i tried using UWT resets in a tournament environment (nothing too crazy, just peppered one in every couple of matches when i needed the damage or i knew they didn’t expect it)
but yeah, lemme know what you guys think, i know i’m still not perfect with peter yet but i’m getting there

Renhoff: I use the exact same team! If I could suggest an easy combo to get Frank to level 4 (very easy not to drop this combo and I think would be good for tourney play):
c:l:, c:m:, c:h:, :l: webswing, j:m:, j:m:, j:s:, s:m:, s:h:, 
webthrow, dash, air dash, Cart Assist, j webzip, j:s:, s:h:, :h: spidersting / bite, c:h:, s:s: + Hidden Missile Assist, j:m:, j:m:, j:h:, j:s:, dash, j webzip, j:s:, :h: webthrow, webthrow, Maximum Spider, Frank DHC, take picture
This combo will always bring the opponent to the corner no matter where you first hit them. Even brings them from one corner to the other corner. Therefore, you can always get two webthrows off in the combo after the hidden missiles -> air magic series.
It will always give you two bars so you will always be able to DHC into Frank to get him to level 4.
You could also substitute :l: webthrow for some of those webthrows but I prefer consistency where it’s less likely you will drop the combo.
Also this is IMO, c:h:, :l: webswing is godlike with Cart Assist for pressure or you can mix it up with standing webzip.
But if you already knew about all I said then disregard the above just saying just in case you didn’t know.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a 360. I play on PSN, but yeah offline would absolutely be great. If you’re from Bris, you’ve probably gone to a LanSmash already. I’m the only one using Spidey there so I’m not sure if we’ve already played.
