Third party PS4 padhack options

Maybe, depending if you can find alternate solder points or solder to a trace (which is harder than soldering to a pad)

Yes you can. The face button have test points on the back you can solder to. Dpad you’ll have to solder to via or scrap the traces.

Anyone think the touch pad click button would be necessary in SFV? Thinking about buying a Hori FPS Plus this time around instead of an FC4

@gummo @Darksakul I see what you mean. The traced on the back if the board.

I’ve wondered this, too. I really hope not.

What does noise (from not connecting the cable shielding to ground) look like for a controller? The cable shielding is connected to ground at the other end of the cable, right? So is it necessary to connect the shielding to the ground on the end of the cable you splice up?

Yes

Hi everybody could you please tell me which specific diode do I have to use to for this mkx ps/3/4 PCB to be use in a dual PCB set up. I have a PS one PCB that i use with two adapters: One for the ps3 and one for the xbox360. I want to be able to use it with a ps4 at some point.
I need this for my Franken pads: A half PS vita half Hori mini stick(button part modded with sanwas switches).
Also have a Wii classic controller and Hori mini stick Franken pad.
Trying to make them sfv ready.

Afaik a diode is a diode, I used the 50pk from radio shack

The touchpad click seems to be taking the place of select. I have a FC4 ready to be padhacked but now I’m having 2nd thoughts. What’s the best price/place to get the FPS Plus and what do we know about hacking it?

Best price/place is probably amazon or arcadeshock; it’s the same price.
Guilty Gear went the way of using an alternate measure for pads/sticks not having a touchpad, so you might not have to worry.

Hey there! I am pretty sure I am in the right spot. I am in the process of beginning my build on my stick. I built my case already. I got my hands on the hori commander 4 and a solder. Now the only thing that’s left is to get my buttons, stick & wires.

Now down to the hard part :stuck_out_tongue: I have a question for someone that might know, I skimmed through and tried the search a few times. This may be a stupid question but is it possible to turn the tactile/physical ‘switch’ on the pcb to switch from ps4 to ps3 into a button press instead? As that would make it more convenient instead of opening the case up and touching the pcb whenever I want to switch it over. Not a big deal but still, it would be nice if it was possible to do.

Secondly this is my first attempt at soldering and actually building a fight stick from scratch, please be gentle with me ~ THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

ps; I have a basic understanding that diodes are pretty much used for dual modding, would simply using the single pcb of the hori 4 need diodes since its ps3/4/pc, or since they are only activated at one time you wouldnt need to use diodes, and just simply solder the buttons and stick on and you’re good to go?

you can use a button but it can’t be momentary, if you want it to be a regular button on hold you can use an imp/4066 chip and solder to the control pins of the 4066, or if gummo will sell you a gimp, you can use that too.
No diode necessary if it’s a single pcb setup.

you only need a single diode for the FC4 anyway, only for the switch, not for every input.

Just wanted to share something I did a little while ago with some help from others who have accomplished similar mods. I wired up a hfp4 to a ps360+ then connected both to an IMPv2 on my q4raf. I then used the signal from the switch which was previously used to move between xbox360 and ps3 and made that the switch signal on the IMP.
I also used an rj45 connector on the imp to allow connectivity for older consoles and confirmed that it all worked perfectly. Like I said people have done things similar but toodles instructions say that you can only do this with a MC Cthulu but since the ps360+ is so similar it works just fine.
I did this because I was not OK with the timeout of the ps360+ on a ps4. If anyone wants details or has questions about doing the same thing just ask.

wait… you used the switch for the impv2?
Won’t it swap now every time you keep the switch held low?

Also unless you’re using the rj45 for everything, you could have gone straight to the ps360+ rather than through the imp

I am using the rj-45 for everything and yes, so if I need to switch I put it on high, once it starts up i switch it back to low until I need to move back. Is it perfect, no because in a perfect mod it would be one side ps360+ and the other hfp4, but I wanted to use that switch, I useless buttons.
If you have any suggestions please let me know.

The switch is ok if you move it back right away like you said, if you don’t want to use buttons.
Good thinking

Looking at padhacking and this pad seems cheap for the job… https://www.mightyape.com.au/product/Gator-Claw-PlayStation-4-Wired-Controller-PS4/23020303

or Hori FPS Plus, anyone has experience with hacking these?
