The Zero MvC3 "Team" Thread

I haven’t developed a neutral game plan for this team just yet. Right now mainly working on confirms and combos.

To add in on this, I think Zero/Firebrand work really well together. Just from what I have experienced, I’ve been running a team of Zero/Vergil/Firebrand and I don’t see any problems with this team. Possible OHKO’s depending on the character (Excluding anyone over 1.2b HP), excellent team combos, amazing converts midscreen, creating “hard to block” setups (Not unblockables) especially using Firebrands Demon Missle (Swoop) assist. The team can hold it’s own even if it loses a character, Firebrand can bring it back very easily with his infinite (X-factor level 2 or 3 + Luminous Body + QCF L = anyone in the cast dead), I recommend some players to try this out with me and let me know your thoughts on this team.

I’m messing with Zero/Doom(missles)/Akuma at the moment and as good of an anchor Akuma is, I can’t seem to find much use for Tatsu besides that Tiny extra damage before LLs, or as a way of keeping them off, which will get him killed if used that way too much.

Anyone have some good Mix-ups or Set-ups with Zero/Akuma?
It’s annoying to try and convert off of the Tatsu assist without a full Buster.

Right now i’m playing zero/spider/doom, and using zero on point because I can use both assists, while spidey will be only using dooms.
After dropping chris because I was playing three point characters, I lost the ability to do bigger combos, due to Chriss gun fire assist.
Should I be using dooms hidden missile or his plasma beam assist? Both seem pretty useful, and plasma beam would help with combos, but hidden missile has saved my ass more times then I can count (and also killed half my team…).

Been messing with every combination of lineups with Zero using:
Wesker
Taskmaster
Strider
Vergil

And I like all of them. I just can’t seem to make a useless team with them. Arguably the worst one is Zero/Wesker/Strider but even that has so much good stuff to not work.

Really? How does Taskmaster/ Strider work? That sounds like a solid pair but I can’t think of a great deal of ways to capitalise off Vajra (though it’s great for zoning).

Zero/Wesker/Strider seems like the best combination out of all of those too be honest, next to Zero/Vergil/Strider. Vajra is a universal assist for both horizontal and veritcal control, Samurai edge for those consistent and easy air throw conversions/carries, not to mention Samurai Edge/Vajra are both combo extenders for Zero. The Wesker/Strider shell is dirty as hell too.

I know it doesn’t optimize Zero, but I still think having a stronger shell in the back is more important than optimizing Zero, at least with the current state of most Zeros.

I’ve been slowly thinking about dropping Doom from my Zero/Doom/Vergil Team and picking up Dante back up for other teams. Today I decided to say fuck it Zero May Cry is inevitable for me anyway. Now I can Pretend Nero is in the game JYB FTW.

I run Zero/Doom/Vergil. As far as I’m concerned, that (or Dante instead of Doom) is the only way to play Zero. I can’t think of a more efficient team.

Is there any grab combos that Zero can do with Vajira assist? I feel like i’m supposed to set Strider at his A assist to make something after an air throw.

I don’t think so. That’s why I like Zero first in a Zero/Viper/Strider team so he can combo off his grabs.

Forcing them to fight on the ground against footsies and arrows is one of the best things you can do as taskmaster. Strider does a great job of that. it helps with his keepaway pressure and you can also force them into some tricky situations involving swing cancels while calling strider. Having a strong projectile assist doesn’t hurt as well if strider is at point.

I know it’s not the most consistent team setup, but how does Zero/Wesker/Arthur sound? More along the lines of Zero/Wesker mainly? I’ve been running Zero with Arthur for awhile now and it’s been working considerably well, but after failing miserably at the last tournament even with Doom missiles backing me up, and realizing that Doom just isn’t my character (yet), I needed to replace him with a character I’m more suitable using, and Wesker was the best candidate since I mained him since vanilla, but I just don’t like the options Zero/Wesker have compared to Zero/Doom, but I perform better with Zero/Wesker. Does anyone else have any suggestions or tips on what kind of tricks or combos I can do with Zero/Wesker synergy?

That does sound good, have you ever looked into Zero/Task/Doom ? Gonna try and squeeze some games in with that team before I fly over to Geneva.

I would like to know about this as well… I’m a proud Wesker and have recently wanted to try out Zero, but it seems apparent that they’re not the most synergistic of duos.

Yeah, the team is gay as fuck (in the good way). It’s very good as a “complete” zero team. You have your ground control and air control options down as well as absurdly damaging combos. You also have some great DHC’s if you can’t lightning loop. If you lose Zero, Task/Doom’s damage and zoning is up there as among the best in the game. overall, a very easy zero team to pick up. The only reason I don’t use it more often is because I feel Wesker backed with arrows is scarier than Doom backed with arrows or taskmaster backed with missiles, especially in the come back department.

Zero/Wesker/Arthur will work provided your fundamentals with Zero and Wesker are sound. Arthur is a lot like the Taskmaster assist I use with longer duration on the screen giving you more time to make something happen.

To be honest, Zero and Wesker aren’t going to do a whole lot for each other in a direct sense. Their assists don’t do a whole lot for each other’s neutral game. And their best DHC (mid screen max wesker into rekkoha) is something I can hit at like 80% accuracy at best. But what they do very well for each other is pick up each other’s slack very well in the matchup department. If you’re great with both of them, you’ll always be in position to abuse 99% of the matchups in the game.

As far as assists go, Wesker provides Zero with a simple pickup on the days you’re not feeling your execution. He also provides a good damage on your otg pickup (forward lightningXXbusterXXdown lightning) if you started your first one off a lightning or a buster. He also gives you an option to pick up an enemy off an air throw from anywhere on screen. So it definitely has good uses. When it comes to Zero’s assists for wesker, I usually use Shippuga for pickups off the air combo, which is convenient if i go for them. It also is decent for some teleport mixups and blockstrings. Hadangeki has its uses as well in that it’s a projectile assist. Its lack of blockstun can actually work to your advantage when you go for command grabs.

I’m asking about Zero/Strider and if there are possibilities that Zero can combo after a air grab off a strider assist? You see, i’ve runned Zero/Doom-hm/Strider and Zero/Dante/Strider… the main prob with Doom/Strider is the lack of options i can do after an airgrab.

The only person I know that has a “good” Zero/Wesker is Killer Kai (KaiSing on SRK). Try looking up his matches on YouTube. In case you haven’t heard of him, he’s a great player living on the WC.

I personally do not like the pairing at all, but I will admit he’s made me slightly less adverse to it - which is saying something.
