Maybe sentinel drones, cold star, or any good beam assist really. Dark hole doesn’t have enough range on it to be effective in that sort of playstyle. Jam session would also work great with a team like that.
I’m running Zero(Ryuenjin)/xx/Doom(HM) too atm, current 2nd is Dante he just brings waaaay too much to the table especially combined with Doom too it’s too good to give up.
DHC Synergy, Combos from anywhere, mixup, unbloackable setups, lockdown, ridiculously extended combos etc.
With Doom on Plasma Beam I use Dorm though, just because Zero/Dorm/Doom was my Day 1 vanilla team and I’m so used to all of them.
I’m trying to (re)learn Zero for one of my many teams, how does Zero (Ryuenjin) / Doom (Hidden Missiles) / Strider Hiryu (Vajra) sound?
Got the basics down I guess, the lightning relaunch was much easier than I thought it would be, but I still haven’t figured out the lightning loop or jump loop. Also currently using Hidden Missiles for an easy corner carry, but it doesn’t help damage much at all, I’ve heard of an extension using Hidden Missiles around here, but I haven’t been able to find any information about it.

It’s the one i use.
I’ve decided to go back to my old vanilla team of Zero/Doom/Dante but I cant decide on Doom’s assist i used to use beam but Im now considering hidden missiles. Which benefits Zero more?
Can’t really say tbh, IMO they’re completely even so I change them based on the matchup at hand. If they like flying around a lot then hidden missiles, sometimes hidden missiles is great against keepaway teams like Hawkeye too. Plasma Beam for everything else.
Honestly, just go with what you’re most comfortable with/ find the most utility with. Everyone’s got a different playstyle and with 2 great assists like that it’s down to you. Can’t really go wrong.
Guess I’ll just hit the lab and figure out what works best for me. Thanks for the advise.
My team is now zero doom gouki. I know its not too original but it works so fucking good. I switch between missiles and beam with doom depending on match up, tatsu is a given and zero leads with ryujin.

I LOVE my Zero/Cap/Sentinel team - but I have to drop it for competitive play sadly. You’d think it was due to Cap, but that’s not the case - he’s friggin awesome. It’s Sentinel. He just has too many bad matchups in the anchor spot. If I could find a suitable anchor, I’d stay with Zero/Cap though. A suitable anchor would be a bonus assist for Zero, while mainly being used to help Cap’s Shield Slash zoning. I’m thinking Akuma - will have to give it a shot.
If that doesn’t work out, I’m thinking of running Zero/Sentinel/*, as Sent is awesome in the second spot with an assist to back him up.
Zero/Cap/Dante?
I’m actually starting to think Dante is the best anchor in the game (barring dumb things like Dark Phoenix and Orbs Strider).
I’m really trying not use characters having to due with devil, hell, etc - which rules out DMC cast. Admittedly Dante would probably work really well and it’s difficult to look past that, but I’m gonna try my best to stick to my guns on this one (no pun intended).
care to elaborate that? (not trying to calling you out or expose you, just interested in your opinion btw)
Zero/Sentinel/Wesker or Doom. They’re both awesome as anchors. doom with the speed boost vastly improves his offensive capabilities.
He doesn’t suffer from any of the matchup issues that any other anchor character does. Sentinel is a huge target, Doom can be lamed out really easily, Wesker can only attack from long range at very specific angles and can be pretty effectively avoided by super jumping (he has answers, but he’s the one who has to do the guesswork), Strider stops being scary when XF depletes, Skrull desperately needs meter, Magneto can either be zoned out with projectiles or avoided with teleports. Dante on the other hand has answers for everything even without meter or XF. Once you put him in DT he becomes the problem, not the answer, and now your opponent is the one who has to find an answer to thunderbolt/vortex/fly-airplay zoning, plus DT is like a mini XF on its own. XF makes him an even bigger problem as it alleviates his only weakness (slow normals stop being slow in XF3, but they still hit half the screen). The double airdash in DT is also a unique mixup tool that no one else has access to without making it really obvious by activating flight first.
I honestly never gave anchor Dante a chance until I was messing around with Mags/Doom/Dante a couple days ago. I played probably 30 games with him and never once thought “this would be easier with a different anchor”.
I’ve been playing my unusual team of Hsienko/Felicia/Dormammu for a long while now, and I have essentially no experience with Zero. But I want to try something new. If I wanted to run Zero/???/Dormammu, any suggestions for second slot?
Frank, Dante, Vergil and Iron Fist all provide useful assists while being good on-point but it’s basically up to you.
Hey! That’s my Day 1 vanilla team!
Especially if you have Lei Lei + golden powerup assist on 2nd.
Anyway, Dante (Jam Session) is pretty good for 2nd here. Also hard to go wrong with Dr Doom esp Plasma Beam assist.
There’s only one thing putting me off him as anchor atm, apart from the acid rain mixup- how can Dante as an anchor actually open people up? Either you’re fishing for a teleport which you could be thrown/ hit out of. + With missile and air play setups, or you’re just sitting back chucking bolts but really, how often are the even hitting/ being blocked? He doesn’t really have any high low mixup either.
If you can enlighten me regarding the above then I’ll give him a shot (cos I really do like Doom with Jam Session assist too, or even Strider).
What do you guys think of a Zero (Ryujin) / Spider-Man (Web Shot) / Spencer (slant grapple) team?
You have two characters designed for point play and no decent assists to help anyone get in, you’re going to have a hard time really maximizing Zero’s BS. I’d consider bringing in at least one other character with a good assist that Zero can benefit from. Jam Session, Drones, Hidden Missiles are all great options.
