Where’s the love, people…
Incase people were wondering, most of that Dezmu Info is from J Chen’s XvsSF Combo FAQ(It’s on GameFAQs, actually. Heh), and it’s crazy old… That’s alright, but you should give credit before posting that stuff, Shiro… Took you til the third post of his shiz to even mention it wasn’t yours. =/ No good. In any case, I’d suggest any noob who’s serious about learning the game to check it out. It’s a good place to start. Then come to me. :karate:
Banishing Flat -> FAB is alright, but only when used in moderation. All of Gief’s setups are escapable, in one form or another, and the key is variety and mixup, not a super secret strat that’ll get em every time. You want a bit of a Magic Key? Instead of going for the FAB, jump and do an Air SPD(Just do a basic, not-too-fast spin starting at Up/Forward. Of all things, this is best used after Banishing Flat. Experienced players will almost always jump the FAB[Yes, you can do that. You can also do an air special to stop yourself from landing. Pixies can whack you out of it.], because the Flat is a dead giveaway)
Personally, though, I always opt for FAB setups as opposed to his inf. It’s more fun, IMO, and when I tire of pwning noobs I gotta mix it up to keep it entertaining. I did use his sj.up.strong x 2 relaunch inf for a while, but that’s only because it’s funny ass shit.
And, if you didn’t know, there are plenty of ways to do his FAB without grounding yourself with an attack. One of the easiest ones is Back-to-Down-to-Forward, Up + 3P. Half Circle, then tap Up + Buttons. Works like a charm.
Gief is alright, and fun and all, but his tricks and entertainment are limited. Air Jab -> KLariat is the balls, fo’ sho’, and he’s got a sick j.fierce, any way you can work that in is golden. Stylish combos, you pretty much gotta go with Headbutt links(Setup = Launch, sj.short, sj.jab -> sj.up.strong(Headbutt), Anything. “c.strong /\ sj.short, sj.jab -> sj.up.strong, sj.dwn.fierce / FAB” = Best FAB setup ever) Practically, you go with Lariat loops. Landing FABs is always good shit, though. Always has that “Oh snap, look what you fell for” punch.
