The Wrestling Thread v.10K Lethal Lockdown! - Let me in...CAUSE ITS BOSS TIME! - Clash of Champions 9/15

That’s been a theory going around for a while before he even said it. It might be a rediculous theory if it wasn’t for the fact we know WWE has done this before. Secretly and publicly

Super Smash Bros debut with the lights out was lame. It would be okay in pwg. But those guys are more or less boot leg steenerico without the skills.

You debut a ryback, punk, or somebody that looks like a hoss in that spot.

Debuting 2 jabronis with their sex slaves was lame af

I also recommend watching AEW DON. It was definitely a breath of fresh air. And yea, the Smash Bros debut was lame. I didn’t know everyone on the show, but when the crowd didn’t know who they were either, it took away the moment.

I get that but at the same time we aren’t gonna know everyone. So many faces especially new ones it’s gonna be a mix bag. It’s what I imagine the early days of 90s wcw was.

A lights out surprise should really be reserved for guys your audience will know. It doesn’t have any punch if you do it for literally whos.

Literally how I feel when people tell me they are big fans of the FGC. Like wtf are you a fan of? Bunch of squiggas playing games at an appartment? wtf are you even saying?

Yeah, none of us watching that knew who the guys were. The throne of people was pretty cool though. Kind of silly to start some sort of feud like that in a PPV.

Figured they’re going to make creative mistakes and other things as they go along. Those happen even in veteran promotions. Only reason I didn’t spend too much time hung up on that one thing.

all in was testing the waters

Double or nothing was a way to establish the hierarchy and tell the audience what the card is going to look like for the shows ahead. They pretty much established their what their women’s/Joshi, tag, trios and top title divisions were going to look like all in one show.

Which imo was very smart. Did somethings not go the way they wanted? Sure. Smash Bro’s debut and the whole title reveal segment being the two biggest issues that stuck out in my mind.

All in all it was a solid show.

I will say something the personally fell flat for me. The post match promo by Cody. He was a heel the whole match, the whole build of the match was Cody wanting to destroy the era Dustin represented. Then all the sudden he’s like “yo…I need you.” That fell completely flat to me but it didn’t take away from how good the match was and how much it clearly meant to Cody and Dustin. You could also tell the last part of “I don’t need a partner, I don’t need a friend. I need my brother” likely wasn’t scripted and it meant a lot to Cody to tell that to Dustin. They were both in tears at the end of the promo.

Dustin even posted on Twitter that when everyone on social media was telling him he and Cody stole the show he cried the rest of the night and all the next day because he was always told “he was a good hand but would never standout without the goldust gimmick”

In the end it’s worth trying something different. If it fails then they learn but if it works… You will only know by trying.

I liked the title reveal segment. While I was watching it I thought to myself MJF is what EC3 should be if he wasn’t being buried.

It was incredibly awkward to me. You could tell Bret didn’t want to be there and he kept botching his lines. He wants nothing to do with wrestling anymore but he’s also still willing to take a check. So. :woman_shrugging:t3: More power to him I guess.

I honestly thought that entire promo was awkward, painful to watch and just really really bad. He was trying waaaay too hard to come across as a shit bag. The awkward talking about Hangman Page being a deer went on way too long. It was just a weirdly paced, awkward promo. I hated it. It genuinely confuses me how people on reddit are comparing his promo skills to the Miz and early Orton.

Didn’t really need all the cameos either.

Nothing wrong with trying. Unfortunately, the response was flat since the crowd did not know who it was too. On the plus side, they hit a cool move and the masked minions they had was unique (to me, at least).

I thought he was finally embracing his unofficial gimmick of being a 3 star general.

I just can’t get into Kofis promos lately. Something just feels off, he was alot more dynamic on the mic prior to winning the title. Loving his matches tho

Vintage Alvarez…for $12.

So peeps are saying that AEW is WWE???

There are conspiracy theories about Vince secretly owning or having a stake in AEW. I don’t buy em but I have no proof to descredit them tho

EDIT: R-Truth :joy:
