IMO, it’s likely that someone at WWE (I’m guessing HHH) realizes that promoting pro-wrestling in general is to the benefit of the company. At least, compared to trying to shut down or, de-emphasize other promotions. If the “product” (that is, pro-wrestling as a whole) goes up, then so should the company.

It helps build to that match, especially since Naito is now free of the ic belt and omega can hold that Jericho victory over him. Not to mention the g1 matches

Also roh and njpw are doing UK tours that week
So this is a one shot not on new japan world, but could be put on with japanese commentary honestly
