The Wrestling Thread 2017: Thanks for the great year! New Thread Open!

Cena here probably going to dig up Paul Bearers remains or something to get a match at WM.

trash

So Reigns is main eventing his fourth WM a feat only reach by Hulk Hogan…

Edit: Correction my mistake I forgot about the Undertaker who reached four when he faced Roman.

Don’t worry…Vince will make sure he gets to not only 5, but 10. :coffee:

Oh vince…

[details=Spoiler]

Sounds like I didn’t miss anything.

he was injured from working out not the match

I think signing Ronda is a bad idea. Just looking at her eyes and hearing her on the mic makes me certain that she hasn’t gotten over getting her ass kicked in by Holm’s and Nunes. I also saw her interview in where she replies “i don’t want to talk about that” in a very depressed tone when asked about her defeats.

I think she needs professional help first before signing because she will likely hurt one of the girls.

nigga wut?

Disregard my last post I was way off.

So Roman does join Hogan as the only wrestlers to main event at least 4 Wrestlemanias in a row.

Hogan has main event a grand total of seven WM he had two streaks where he was the headliner the first began from the first Mania until Mania 3 (Mania 4 was the tournament). His second streak went from Manias 5-8. I’m not counting Mania IX but if some of you do it bumps it to eight WM main events and pushes that streak to five in a row.

Triple H is tied with Hogan at seven main events he basically dominated most of the 2000s his streak of consecutive main events was three WM20-WM22, also to date that was the only time he main evented consecutively.

The rest
John Cena 5: WM22-WM23 then WM27-WM29
The Rock 5: WM15-WM X-Seven then WM28-WM29
HBK 5
The Undertaker 4
Stone Cold 3
Bret Hart 3
Brock Lesnar 2
Batista 2
Randy Orton 2
Macho Man 2

You don’t count Mania IX because he wasn’t the “headliner” or “main event” as he obviously wasn’t advertised as such. Remember, the term headliner comes from a match (from any combat sport) sitting at the top of posters, usually the reason such an event exists and the reason people will buy tickets. Obviously people can do it for lower card matches, but the implication is there.

Hogan was only advertised for that tag match and obviously absolutely no one from the time the card was solidified, up until…well the second Hogan came out, could’ve predicted that turn of events. Sort of like Seth at 31. Obviously there was a much better chance, MITB Briefcase and all, but I’d struggle to say that he headlined Mania since there was absolutely no guarantee of him cashing in at that time.

Lesnar here tonight? Oh boy. Totally looking forward to em tugging at the belt like two fat kids fighting over the last Snickers… again

Not sure why everyone is upset… We all knew who was winning lol
Reigns taking the title from Brock was set in stone MONTHS ago.

Not upset, I’m apathetic which is arguably worse. Didn’t even bother watching the show as nothing on the card felt like it mattered because none of the results were ever in doubt.

So far the highlight of elimination chamber has been asuka’s new mask that I ordered on wwe shop.

This has been a pretty abysmal ppv.

Lol roman got wrecked

Reigns needs to turn so badly

Strowman looked like a monster

Why is wwe fighting the crowd

I hope Lesnar/Reigns is in the middle and Nakamura/Styles main events

Ending another wrestlemania with 60,000 people booing Reigns would suck.

Please just turn reigns heel tonight. Let this happen by having him kick lesnar in the dick

I really don’t want to see Kurt Angle and stephanie dominate tv. I really hope it’s Rock/Ronda vs hhh/steph

Fast Lane has such a low bar to be better. But i do remember road block being better two years ago with hhh/ambrose

Cena vs Strowman is the match for me. Can Cena overcome a guy who has dominated the wwe and who the fans love?

Miz/BĂĄlor/Elias are probably tied up in a cluster match

Rollins retiring Angle via buckle bomb needs to happen

Ronda Rousey era is gonna be greater than Attitude era.

Even though having left UFC, her presence in WWE will expand awareness and interest in MMA as well.
Ronda Rousey opened the doors to women’s MMA in UFC, so she still is an icon in the MMA world and overall fight entertainment as well.
Women’s MMA started making a worldwide presence around the beginning of the golden age of Strikeforce, Gina Carano became the face of women’s MMA until Cyborg demolished her through the usage of steroids
meanwhile,  Miesha Tate dethroned Sarah Kaufman, then Ronda Rousey brought things to the next level.   the women’s MMA competition inspired the creation of Invicta FC, while Ronda’s winstreak earned the interest of UFC, which led Ronda’s hardwork and influence breaking the walls between UFC and the rest of the MMA world that includes women’s MMA in their fight cards.  then UFC women’s MMA expanded with new weight classes added, and continues to be supported.

So that being said, like her or hate her, Ronda Rousey is an icon that continues to influence and inspire the fight entertainment genres.
we know sexist MMA fans are especially cruel and underrate women’s accomplishments compared to the men.  and are extra harsh whenever women are defeated and their win streak meets a big upset.

while defeated males are encouraged by their dudebros to get back up and keep competing,
the sexists/misogynists ostracize, ridicule and expect female fighters, even female champions to give up.
such is the evil nature of sexist culture and misogyny especially apparent among MMA fans.

yet despite that, there are those that look beyond that and respect the positive contributions women have made and are making.
it will be challenging for UFC to get another talented charismatic champion that rivals Ronda Rousey’s essence.

Stfu affinity and stay out of my thread

In all honesty… I think Ronda will do well. Just like Angle and Lesnar before her.
I think she loves the business and has the talent to perform well.

This Ronda Rousey segment is painful to watch.
