Watching Monday Night Wars. Fake Diesel and Razor was the dumbest shit ever

I tuned into wrestling somewhat late in that era, but WOW that was stupid

At least that angle gave us Surly JR and kept Al/Kane employed.

Better late than never

Who’s the other guy? Cesaro?

Man Kane had to put up with some crap, both before and after he became Kane.
I’m not sure if there’s any superstar that’s had to work through more crappy angles than he has.

Team Hell No was the best though. I AM THE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!

Looks like Dr. Shelby.

I think in terms of the ‘most horrible angles worked’ Kane is far and away the victor.

Katie Vick; Kane the rapist (several times); Kane the corporate stooge; ‘monster vs monster’; Jericho coffee spill…the list goes on.

The thing is he stays over

When he finally gets a good story to work he makes it work

sooo in an unexpected turn of events…i ended up getting a free ticket to a wwe house show today. i missed the first half cause i was at work and didnt get the message til i got out. but the second half was dope…you had tyle breeze vs adrian neville, 6 man tag match usos + big show vs wyatt family and main event kane vs no shit sherlock cena in a street fight.

the street fight was all sorts of lulz. alot of close finishes…tables, stairs and chairs everywhere lol. one of the funniest spots was there was a table set up. and john gots to put kane in the fu. so while hes on cena’s shoulders, he flips the table over so he doesnt get put in it.

a weird decision early in the match was john pretending he could pick up kane to fu him. we were all like…this dude has picked up the big show…he can pick up kane. kane wasnt fighting it, so it seemed an odd decision to imply he could do it early on in the match.

Kane is like the Undertaker character and story wise. They are pretty much equals, especially when they team up. Everyone chants, “This is awesome…”

Everyone with them wrestling stories mines pretty cut and dry I started watching when SD first began, since we didn’t have cable that was the main thing I watched next to Jacked/Metal (at the time I didn’t know it was the same show just different commentators), since wrestling was all that was talked about at school I was interested in watching and seeing what the hype was all about and after that was hooked ever since. Still remember when we got cable to finally watch Raw was when Mick was the commish and I knew nothing about WCW believe it or not.

I remember watching when the Million Dollar Man took over the Saturday morning show. I also remember the Yokozuna era, particularly when he feuded with the Undertaker and “killed him”.

I liked his feud with Jericho. Spilled coffee is a legit way to start a feud. If someone spilled hot coffee on me I would kick their ass too.

Ahh the birth of the Phantomtaker.

My wrestling reintroduction was pretty simple, i watched a lot as a kid and was a huge Mr Perfect/Ultimate Warrior fan.
Hogan did not really have a lot of appeal as a kid, i remember watching everything i could WWF related, during that time i did even know there were other real promotions, the only NWA i was really exposed to in Cali was on local channels either mid afternoon when i was home sick from school or late at night, i remember seeing Sherry managing Harlem Heat and thinking Shawn must have fired her for being unfaithful with Rick Martel.

I clearly remember watching scramble ppv’s back when that was still a thing, and being a huge Macho man fan and not getting Flair during his WWF fun. I hated that dirty cheater Flair stealing Macho Man’s title when his lag was broken.

I marked out like crazy for that, and the Bulldog beating Bret for the IC title on a scrambled ppv, you’d watch and pray for like 1 or 2 seconds of unscrambled glory. It was like seeing an unscramble tit.

When Hogan made his return and beat yokozuna for the belt my interest kinda waned and i missed Big Daddy Cools heel turn,Razors face rise, the war of doink/king etc.
I would not come back to it until the night of WM 14, some friends i had lost contact with for a while had recently come back into my life and several of them were huge wrestling fans, so i went along and watched the PPV.

I was already a big HBK fan so i immediately gravitated to him and DX, and by proxy became a lifelong HHH fan.
I did not get Austin at all at first because i had missed his rise to power. After that i was introduced to wCw and the NWO who were just getting really hot at the time. Then i was given a ton of tapes from japan and most importantly, ECW which had recently debuted Raven who remains to this day, my all time favorite wrestling personality and gimmick.

I got to watch the DeathBomb tournaments with Cactus Jack and Terry Funk. Coming from a strictly WWF fandom, it was like the gods awarded me with manna from the heavens.

I’ve been a lifelong fan since, and while i cannot watch weekly anymore, i always at the least read whats happening.

The Best theme wcw ever made.

As a kid i gravitated towards big guys because i was a fatboy

Vader, Cactus Jack, Natural Disasters, bam bam, yoko, headshrinkers, bossman, akeem, gordy, williams, dusty I liked them

I hated nasty boys, bundy, maxx payne.

The immobile big guys i hated.

But guys like demolition, lod, steiners, luger/sting, harlem heat, all appealed to me.

Monstrous guys

The memory that stands out most to me is the feud between Yokozuna and Lex Luger. I also remember a time where they were a tag team and WWF use answer questions from fans and one asked how Lex and Yoko communicate. Lex answered the question, but I forget the answer he gave.

I remember Yoko’s engrish shouting during his heel/championship run, then fluent English during the face run. Of course he ended up being another one of Rock/Roman/Rikishi’s Samoan cousins, but I didn’t find that part out until after he croaked.

Also, billed weight always cracked me up. Yoko was advertised at 505, then 550, then 568, and finally at 641.

Show’s billed weight fluctuates every week. That water weight must be some shit.

The person with the most suspicious weight listing was Crash Holly.

But, I mean, he carried a scale around with him so I believe him.

Fuck i had a long ass post about yoko

But yoko legit blew up in weight because his eating addiction. He was so heavy he couldn’t pass physicals or get licensed

WCW almost got him, but the head of the samoan family said to stay loyal to wwf. He was supposed to have a samoan gangster gimmick and wcw was going to bring in rikishi, samu, jamal, and rosey as well.

Imagine if that happened samoans would be as fucked as black guys. Thanks to the family staying loyal to wwe we see that they all get shots. Roman, Usos, Tamina. Heck even the crappy ones got shots (manu, deuce).

Never got why camacho didn’t come in as Meng Jr. And wreck shit. He was a huge tongan guy with agility. Oh well. Could see camacho join bullet club and team with his brother.

Think about the wrestling families. Most of them have great relationships with wwe.

Konnan, court bauer, nash, samu all talk about the samoans going to wcw in their shoots.

I think wwe should get one feud out of rey before he goes. Mask vs mask just to fuck with him. I would be into kalisto taking the mask.

Mask vs Mask with Rey is probably the last money feud he has left.
