The Wrestling Thread 2015 - IN THE BOOKS! PLEASE LOCK THREAD MODS!

How I wish kurt could face brock again. I always imagine brock doing some promo about he can dominate everyone in the roster and the only one who was able to stand up to him is now a shell of his former self competing in a different promotion. Then boom comes out kurt angle. One more shooting star press self pile driver please brock.

I never, ever saw the squash coming so I’m not even gonna guess whats gonna happen at NOTC. Gonna be wild.

Damn…Roman better pull magic out of his ass to look good in this match.

How can someone dead get a rematch?

Basically how I felt too, rumored cards are rumored. We know how Vince is. This card is going to change like 90 times by NoC. The only match that is a lock is the main event.

SD! Spoilers…

[details=Spoiler]-Randy Orton does an in-ring promo about Roman Reigns, and says that SummerSlam was just one battle, but he will win the war. He hypes tonight’s match against Rob Van Dam as an example of what he is capable of.

(1) Seth Rollins def. Jack Swagger via count-out. Said to be a good match. Rollins hit the Curb Stomp on the ring apron, and Swagger ended up getting counted out on the floor. Bo Dallas comes out after the match and gives a motivation speech to Swagger, so it looks like the program they started on Raw will be continuing.

-Backstage, The Miz asks Corporate Kane for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. Kane says he’s got to earn it, and won’t just be handed the opportunity again. He books Miz vs. Roman Reigns for later tonight.

(2) Rusev def. Sin Cara. This was basically a squash match.

-Rob Van Dam is interviewed backstage, but is interrupted and attacked by Randy Orton. They fight out to the ring and a referee ends up staring the match.

(3) Randy Orton vs. Rob Vam Dam ends in a no-contest. The brawling never actually stopped. After the “match”, Orton hits the Hangman’s DDT off the barricade, into the floor. They roll back into the ring, and Orton hits an RKO into a chair. The beating lasted longer than the match.

(4) Natalya def. Paige via submission. This was a Raw Rematch, and a very short one at that. AJ Lee came out and stole the Divas Championship. Paige went after her, got caught in the Sharpshooter, and tapped out.

(5) Stardust & Goldust def. Luke Harper & Eric Rowan. The Rhodes Brothers are getting win-after-win here, so they may be next in line for the tag titles at Night of Champions. After the match, the Wyatt Family beat down the Rhodes. (I am NOT liking the Wyatts in this losing streak…)

(6) Roman Reigns def. The Miz. This wasn’t much of a match at all. Randy Orton came out, Reigns speared Miz, and the two had a staredown. They began to fight, Orton got the advantage and brought a chair into the ring, but Reigns hit him with the Superman Punch.[/details]

unprepared for the feels

The booking for this match would be simple if I did it.

Cena’s gimmick has always been based on not giving up. Well it has been that way since the rematch with JBL back in 05. Before that he had no problem tapping out to Angle, but that’s a billion years ago in continuity.

Anyway, Lesnar was trying to make Cena quit throughout that match and never once used the Komora lock. Well then I would play that up, this time he would make Cena quit and make that into a submission match. Not an I Quit match, but a true submission match. This way Cena could look strong in the match, but then the last aura of his invincibility would be shattered; The Never Give Up factor.

Of course that would never, ever, ever happen.

Too much merchandise sales would be lost and they are not going to turn the man heel.

In that case they should have a rematch where like HD-MAN put it. He looks good in the beginning and made some adjustments but then eventually gets picked off and dominated in the later minutes of the match and lose convincingly again. Basically just how rematches are in real shoot fights.

Plus I will say it again because it came to mind: even though he did a poor job implementing in his tenure at ROH, Cornette was the first one to call that wrestling, in order for it to survive or have another boom period, would need to return in to a more real life-shoot fighting feel where the matches and conflicts were more about competition than about storylines and the presentation was based more on Ultimate Fighter and 24/7. Cornette was right.

wait, read that wrong, no.

would like kurt to come back and destory Rusev.

I’ve been saying that too. It’s why I think the crowd will turn against reigns. As good as storylines can be it’s the characters and their abilities that make them. Ambrose and Rollins protected the shit out of him in the shield and made him look like a million bucks. Now that he’s a line wolf or whatever the fuck we can see how inadequate he is in a lot of departments while Ambrose and Rollins continue to evolve.

Plus people are getting tired of the top baby face style and the moves of doom sequences. They love reigns doing them now but give it 6 months when he’s doing them every match, every night, every show and he’s going through worse shit than cena and Shane McMahon ever could but will win with Samoan drop, super man punch, spear combo out of no where. People will get tired of it fast.

People are finally waking up to wrestling and wanting it to he treated seriously.

I thought Cena was taking time off to film a movie? Should’ve known better…

This is like when Cena got fired by Wade Barrett, came back the same night, and still never missed a RAW.

Cena/Lesnar must have done big money or they wouldn’t do a rematch so quickly.

Reigns feuding with Rollins and being pushed to the limit could be great for him. Especially if it leads to ambrose/rollins hiac

The Rock is where Reigns was. Thing is Rock did a ton of flashy moves that fit with his matches. The Rock also was a singles guy.

Naturally if Reigns did generic power guy moveset maybe he would get less hate. He stopped doing the spinny slam. He needs to bring that back. Also he needs to do a powerbomb. He should be doing a mafia kick. And he needs to add things like a barrage attack. He also needs a better set up for the apron dropkick.

Spear should not follow superman punch. He needs to do a move in between the superman punch and the spear. An alabama slam or spinebuster. Anything. Because that is just tedious

Here’s an elaborate set up for the apron drop kick
Now i will do a pose for the superman punch
Now i yell and wait to strike with a spear

He did those three moves in a row on raw.

Just too much rey mysterio set ups

Everyone is aware of Reings problems in the ring, it would surprise me a lot if they were not addressed. He has the natural talent, and the athletic ability, to be doing a lot more and I think we’ll see it in the future.

He is full of potential

The problem isn’t him it’s the 3 moves he’s settled into. He has a 6-1-9, a people’s elbow, and sweet chin music.

As opposed to one intricate move he has three. Two of which are better without taunts.

Why don’t wrestlers use powerslams as much?

If I was there, my signature would be to pick them up in a powerslam position, smash them against all four turnbuckles, then a giant powerlslam in the middle of the ring and pass out.

I’d call it “4-Way, Oklahoma-style”
