The "What was wrong with this game?" thread

Pretty much. Doesn’t change the fact that a lot of people just don’t sit right with playing a 12 year old transvestite, or a same aged gothic/whatever lolita slut or something that could only be described as a flaming homosexual.

It is daft of people to think SF isn’t anime influenced, but when someone says something is an “anime fighter” I’m pretty sure they’re mostly talking about over-the-top games like AH, MB and for the sake of mentioning, the upcoming Million Knights Vermillion. They are dumping it in “that” category, and that is the term used when doing so, “Anime Fighter”.

I was playing SC4 tonight and was watching a match were moves kept going through Voldo. My friend was like Namco just points and laughs at the game like they put this stuff in there on purpose just to fuck with people.

I will! It’s just my preference, but XI is as important to me as KOF 98 and 2K2 =]

This statement hurts my feelings a little bit. MvC2 isn’t really known for being balanced, and even people who don’t know about fighting games know this much. And yet they still play and appreciate MvC2. I’d like to think Balance and tiers have little to do with it. Forgive me if the MvC2 arguement isn’t a valid one. But because of this, I have been under the impression that balance was never the problem… Just something to complain about.

But when games become balanced or even relatively balanced, the game isn’t played as much. Virtua Fighter anybody? Not that Virtua Fighter fails as a fighting game or anything. It’s incredibly technical and balanced. But not a single one of my friends said let’s play Virtual Fighter over some other game that has little to no balance in it at all. Infact, they’d rather try to play “competitive” M.U.G.E.N :bluu:

As for me… I know I’m just one person… But I have the most fun looking up the tiers and maining the lower end of the list. I would like to keep my low tiers in my fighting games, but that’s just my cup of tea.

I wasn’t having that much fun when I first started playing VF either. VF4Evo was the one that turned it around for me as it had lots of info in the game, challenge tasks to learn specifics, advice and good AI. When you know what you should be doing and are able to react correctly to most situations, the game becomes a lot faster and great fun.

The main thing, is to know the system and the frames well and be able to hit check/confirm on almost every move you throw out. You won’t be hit by things that shouldn’t hit you if you do this, unless you react late or it’s a countering move (sabaki). You also shouldn’t be pausing and thinking what to do next but constantly be doing something with a plan in mind.

What is so different about VF is the defence and movement systems. To use the defence mechanisms and not waste advantageous situations requires consistently good hit checking. To move around quickly requires chaining movement cancels together.

VF5 is a bit easier and more forgiving compared to VF4 so it shouldn’t be as difficult to get into.

Dragon: The bruce lee story ?

I liked it when i was younger was it horribly broken or was it actually decent ?

Well the reason why MVC2 was so successful competitively is because it’s just so damn fun to play and to watch. It’s easily one of the most exciting competitive fighters of all time if not THE most exciting. Plus fanboyism is also a huge factor I think. Marvel universe + Capcom universe = orgasm. Alot of people just love the idea of two big names doing crossovers. People eat that shit up.
