I lost a match to a decent (or at least compared to what I’d been playing against before) Guile as Dictator after going 30-0 and the host quit or just some random disc happened after and the guy sent me a voice mail that said “You suck, I beat you on my first try and you leave”.
Needless to say I told him what happened and beat him multiple times afterwards. :wgrin:
Good thing I don’t have the volume adjusted correctly for incoming voice chat then I guess. I don’t wear a headset, but do use headphones and while it’s cool to hear compliments and such, it’s more distracting than anything when people are either flaming you or simply whining each time you hit them with something. Also, I think I played you a few games last night. Your name seems familiar as one of the better opponents if your gametag is the same as your forum name.
Are a lot of you playing on Xbox live? On PS3 you can easily message a person you played recently in the “Met players” section, but for some reason, SSF2THDR doesn’t show… So I hardly get any of these messages, and I’m too lazy to remember the guy’s name and type them a message lol I guess that’s how the cycle starts.
Not sure what you mean here. Anytime I enter a room and it has players that I’ve never seen before they are added to the names in the message list. What XBL doesn’t seem to do (or maybe I just don’t know how) is add those same names to the add a friend option. You have to write down any screwed up names unless you have a good memory and manually type them in.
People with headsets are totally distracting but luckily it’s the only time I’ve experienced trash-talking and most people are actually pretty cool (I got a “good guile” private message which was nice.)
New advice for anyone actively trying to farm hatemail: pick Ryu and beat somebody using only normals, command normals, and throws. Do not use any special moves or the super. Also make a lot of crouching punches from far away to make it look like you’re screwing up the fireball input motions.
If you make it look like you can’t do any of the specials, scrubs absolutely cannot understand how you’re beating them and their tantrum tanks boil.
I’ve noticed that the players most likely to be very vocal about “cheapness” are scrubby to intermediate level players that are dominating a room and then feel threatened when you enter and challenge their reign.
A bad Ken/Guile actually called me a “motherfucking c@cksucking Jew n**ger” over headset, and I must say that was a first for me. Real smartass shit talker, comical at first but annoying after a few minutes. I also lost several very close matches to a decent Chun that had all kinds of comments about my “cheap” play with Blanka. After the last match he said, “Good game…I guess.” Classy touch.
I’ve noticed when playing randoms that 90% of the people with mic start complaining about cheese immediately. The idea of throws being cheap is much more ubiquitous than I thought. I got tired of hearing people bitch, so now I just leave the headset plugged in but don’t wear it–problem solved!
I played one guy with my Cammy vs his Honda and he said the following to me in a voice message:
“You got lucky BITCH! Play me in a player match and i’ll KICK YOUR ASS!!!”
He then invited me to a player match and he never won, we played 3 matches. He then leaves the room during the 3rd match after he was cornered with basically no life left. He then decided it would be a nice idea to send me this little number:
“FUCK YOUR FAMILY BITCH, ALL YOU DO IS JAB THEN CANNON SPIKE CANNON SPIKE CANNON SPIKE CANNON SPIKE (Ruffling sound of mic, He probably dropped it) FUCK YOU!..(More ruffling)…BITCH!!!”
Im tired of playing people like this. I need to play people that are honorable and have a decent sense of morals.
Im guessing it’s an xbl thing. On PSN all I hear is damn your good, nice combo. Even when I lose to someone they say, good match you got skills. LOL kinda makes me wish I had the XBL version for the lulz
I hear people are generally more hostile on PSN but whatever. I haven’t had anyone really say anything bad about my game. At least as far as nothing where I’ve been sent hate messages or nothing. Somebody sent my brother a message about how Chun tick throwing is for amateurs. I guess people are just inspired by my GDLK Blanka (aka random ass Blanka).
This isn’t really a message it’s more a situation I ran into…but basically my friend just came back from college and had played SFIV and I wanted to show him HD Remix since he probably had never heard of it. I wanted to show him how the online rooms were like an arcade and you could have people spectate. I got into the room and when it was my turn to play I was up against some Cammy player who I assume was beasting in the room before.
I took the mic out so we could hear what was going on through the speakers. The Cammy player was rapid fire standing jabs at the start of the round and I’m assuming he was trying to explain how that beat Blanka balls for free. Already on to his gameplan I started df+HP sliding under his jabs. Catching on to that he started cannon spiking and drilling me to beat that and we went back and forth a bit in the first round. Then he had me near the corner and was about to win and before he made his next move I walked up to him and threw him with Blanka’s crazy throw range for the win. Everyone in the room and my friend next to me went nuts. I was laughing my ass off.
Then I more or less perfected him in the second round. I hope that guy doesn’t post on SRK cuz I really wasn’t trying to make a scene or nothing…that’s’ just how it worked out I guess. I didn’t even know I was gonna win that first round. I’d like to play against more Cammy players too. She seems annoying for Blanka with a relatively safe DP and safer drills.

I was playing some random guy (Magus…something) and he picked Ryu, I picked dictator.
The first two rounds, I got him into a corner with little life and did dic’s super for KO by chip damage. So, I tell the guy "You know, when you get up, if you do a reversal jab shoryu–"i
Then he goes off.
“Shut up don’t tell me how to play you fucking noob. I’m a better fucking player than you’ll ever be. I’ve been doing this longer and you fucking suck. I get a perfect against him right about here AW FUCK YOU DUDE YOU FUCKING SUCK I WASN’T EVEN TOUCHING THE CONTROLLER YOU FUCKING BITCH WHY DON’T YOU FUCKING DIE IN A-”
then the round was over.

Or even worse, beat players with Chun Li with j.mk and mk lightning kicks. Essentailly beating them with one button and mashing it at that. I could only imagine the hate one would get.
Still haven’t gotten hatemail, but I played this hardcore-trashtalker Ken player name LETHALIST (or something like that) today. I didn’t have my mic on at first, but I noticed he kept saying something, so after the first two round I put the mic in (muted voice) to hear what he was saying. I beat him the third round to hear this british accent go “that’s it afro. I’m not playing w/ your ass anymore. come’ere”. He won that round, but I came back and won a close final round. He went nuts; “I shoulda never went easy on you. If I see you again, I’m f__king your s__t up, you understand”
I wanted to work on that “master of all things” achievement, but after hearing trash talk I stick to my main, Boxer. A few matches later we run into each other again, and the trash starts before round 1 starts with “aww, it’s my little friend afro. you shoulda quit when you won the last time. come’ere”. Close match that I lost, he whiffed his super with a sliver of life and goes “WTF?! NOOOOOO!”, and I can hear him mashing on his way down. Must’ve been mashing forward and mk, cause the the throw comes out FTW, and he changes his tune to “Hear that afro? I said No. You’re garbage, get that weak s__t outta here.” Now I’m hoping I get matched with this guy…I’m even tempted to prefer him so XBL pairs us up more often.
Long story short, I played him three more times, all with Rog. Each fight he only won one round, but ate supers, countless tick throw traps, and turn punch set ups. The last fight his trash was just ridiculous; “You only know how to use one character? One character player…”, and then what he said was priceless “I’m f__king sick of your blocking, all you do is f__king block.” I guess I’m supposed to keep rushing into his DP and get hit
Finally got some classic cheap crying online today. I thought I was in for a ggs streak until this idlehands420 guy came up. When I saw that he had DeeJay vs. my Blanka I figured if he was anything near decent it would be tough for me. Luckily he only knew really basic shit like how DeeJay’s j.LK stops Blanka balls and what not. Other than that it was pretty easy to slide under his max outs and “tap throw” him. I beat him in the last round and he cries that I’m fucking gay and I have balls in my mouth. I just said thx and LOL’d. He tried to continue with his antics and I just told him that it’s not 1991.
Played another guy today named bigman with some numbers at the end. Of course due to his name he was a sumo player and of course knowing enough about the matchup I j.LK’d and tick threw him after I jumped on his headbutt attempts all day. Everytime I tick threw him I got a nice “STOP WITH ALL DA DAYUM CHEESE!” LOL.
