don’t quit! at least not yet lol, but if this is getting problmatic about hours or whatever–get the hell out.
yeah not surprised about the W2, you barely worked at all not even weekly 40 hours shifts. Just look at it this way, something is better than nothing! That good job will come, but just like everybody else you gotta crawl before you walk.
thanks man, appreciate that.I thought about it,it is better than nothing.just going to take one day at a time focus on me,i really need a car cuz i don’t live on the bus line,my mom is supposed to help me get one!!!so hopefully things will be looking good.
Man i would get it if i were you since your not putting many hours at wendys definitely try to go for your ged. Honestly i don’t know if it’ll help to land jobs but it will open doors to your future in the long run. Also if you want to go to college and make something out of yourself then yea it worth getting. Im in the process of trying to get mine so i can get into some kind of technical school because im at a point where im fed up with fast food, retail type of jobs and want something for myself and to get the hell out the current town im living in lol.
It would definitely help! Most jobs you get now will force you into having either a HSD or GED accreditation, and without them it’s going to be rough landing more work. As higher education continues go into demand, it’s only going to get harder for those that need that good job in order to meet certain living qualifications. I’m in school now and some of the people in my classes are around the age 35-40! That’s how bad it is getting for some people.
But whatever you do, do NOT go into thinking that better education = better job. Nothing is guaranteed out there. And besides, nowadays it is not about what you know, but who you know.
Depends what u get i heard drivers get paid good. In the flip side i’ve heard quite the horror stories of being put in the loading docks that it’s a bitch picking up heavy shit all the time. If your in shape and would like a good work out its the job for you
I’ve been working at UPS for a little over 3 years now… honestly, you can do better (unless you have no other choice). Not sure about how many hours you work at Wendy’s, but at UPS, you are only going to get about 15-17 hours at most a week, and the pay sucks, so you’ll only be getting about 120-150 a week. You don’t become a driver right away. I’m not sure how it works at other UPS places, but you have to be working there for a few years, then you get entered into a lottery where the more seniority you have, the better chance you have of getting picked to drive. By the way, from what I have personally been told by drivers, every driver hates their job and would rather do something else, but because they won’t get the similar pay at another job, they keep driving, and if you get a major traffic violation after having some time with driving experience, you are immediately let go.
I’ve been trying to get out of UPS for over a year now. I have a few computer certifications to get an entry level job, but a few problems I have are a lack of a bachelors degree (I’m trying to work on that), and I don’t have a car of my own (I have a driver’s license, but I have to take the bus) and many help desk/tech support jobs are in the suburbs.
If you do go for UPS, study and take the sort test as fast as you can. It is a dollar raise, but that adds up, and if you can find a better job, then get out as fast as you can. The only benefit that UPS has is that you will get a work out, and if you stay there for about a year (I think it’s a year), then you’ll get benefits for medical and dental.
thanks man,im looking to be a unloader.I have to get in shape tho.
UPS sounds pretty good compared to what I have at Wendy’s.I only work one day out the week for 4 hours.Too many sheisty managers/co-workers at my wendy’s.Tommorow im going to put in my 2 weeks notice and get out of there.I’ve asked for more hours and never got them,i even said i could work with Dave 2.0 and never got them.Im thinking long run also,im definetly looking in the dietary aide field now.Funny thing is working in fast food is one of the major requirements so everything will work out.Just need to get my GED,or maybe not.I was Home Schooled, and I read that if u put that on ur application(something i wasn’t doing) is equivalent of putting down u went to a private school. So it might just work out in the end.But i’ll still get the GED just to be safe.
you should see if you can get on at a nursing home as a worker, then while you work on becoming a cna, make some decent change and if you like it you could become a RN or an LPN.
pretty much, mopping floors, cleaning toilets, the cafeteria, bodily waste. Once you get certified you can get better job opportunities. Then if you choose to be an LPN the job market opens up, Idk if you’re down with being a male nurse tho. They make pretty decent money. If you took it a step further and went to a four year college and got your BS to be a Registered Nurse…

cna’s clean/feed/bathroom assist the residents. if you can handle old ppl dying, shitting/pissing themselves, biting you, not complying, then you make bank. their job is more than just that though. im just letting u know what i see since i use to work in one (kitchen staff).
also, most cna’s and lvn’s i know work mass hrs/double shifts.
^Thanks,im still looking into it.I may have landed a job at Six Flags doing Security work.Only prob is going to be transportation.I’ll have to take 2 buses and a cab there.Hopefully i’ll make sum friends there that i can car pool with. They told me to come back in for a 2nd interview next week
Theme parks can be a fun place to work, but under certain conditions actually. For one, you will be dealing with a lot of people more than probably any job you will ever have. So, good people skills are required and that’s what they generally look for in their employees. Another thing is that it can be an exhausting experience, the managers are so dumbed down generally like most other places and are not qualified for their actual positions. In other words, they will put you in just about any place that is needed, regardless if you do or don’t know the ends and outs of your area.
Free admission is sweat, and I heard they have free parking for their employees. The crappy pay doesn’t make up for any of that though, but I’m sure it’s better than Wendy’s. Beware: if you end up working for theme parks, kiss your weekends goodbye. GOODBYE! Especially in the summer, you will be needed on a everyday basis. Uni’s are crappy and you have to be properly groomed for the customers, or you will be sent home occasionally.
As for UPS, Tarkan pretty much sums it up nicely. They cater to college students looking to earn a extra buck and ALWAYS hire part time. More times than not, they hire seasonal and cut you lose pretty fast. The whole company is about making a quick dollar, because they figure that everybody that’s in college is looking for quick ways to get outta debt.
thanks, seems like fun,I heard security doesnt do too much at all lol.I wouldn’t have a prob working weekends tho since it’s at Six Flags.Should always be something to do lol.
I decided not to quit Wendy’s and just stay there, slow money better than no money. And if I get this 2nd job things will even out…
Good luck mang. I hope it pulls through. Just be careful though. I’m sure they’ve got a dave or two running around there as well.
Had to quote this because it is the damn truth. I can walk into a job right now only because I know the right people. Will I? I’m thinking about it. I want to get a few things more than what I can cover right now, and a little extra cash never hurt. Still, if I can get over with what I’ve got while sitting snuggly in my batcave, That’s probably what I’ll do. To all my peeps getting their grind on, I wish you all the best of luck.
