Question about the Warhammer MMORPG. I’ve been looking for a new game to keep me occupied since I’m not getting a lot of hours at my job right now. and I REFUSE to play WoW. FUCK Blizzard, nuff said. Back to my question, how is the game, is it any good, is it worth buying and paying for monthly? (even though I think that is FUCKING RETARDED.) Or should I just pirate it and steal a CD key(which wouldn’t be that difficult.)and most of all what is it similar too?(I.E. what’s it play like?)

Its kinda like DOAC, Both sides have Counter classes / opposites. The is broken down into 4 tiered zones. Tier 1 being Basic Lowbie Zone, Tier 2 being 12 to 22, Tier 3, 23 to 32, and Tier 4 33 to 40.

The game puts heavy emphasis on RvR which is pretty much PVP on a more Open Massive scale.

Gear isn’t hard to come by and if you just constantly RvR’r you would receive decent gear from the renown merchant. The Instances aren’t very Complicated but nowhere near the same scale as WoW instances which require tremendous amounts of co-ordination.

There isn’t too much content like WOW but so far the game is off to a decent start and its just different enough that its interesting.

on 21 january, the warhammer 40,000: Dawn of war ii multiplayer beta launches exclusively for soulstorm owners. The beta features all four races, five multiplayer maps and games for windows live trueskill matchmaking.

If you?re a soulstorm owner here?s what you need to do to get started?

step 1- open steam
if you don?t already own a steam account, go to http://www.steampowered.com to download the steam client and create an account for free. Once you?re set, open up steam and click on the ?my games? tab at the top.

Step 2 - add soulstorm to steam
if you haven?t purchased soulstorm through steam, or don?t have it on your games list, you?ll need to register soulstorm first. From the ?my games? area on steam, click the ?activate a product? button at the bottom of the window. You will be asked to agree to the steam subscriber agreement, after which you?ll need to enter your soulstorm registration key.

adding soulstorm as a ?non-steam? game will not work. However, you don?t need to install soulstorm if you don?t want to, it just needs to be registered on your games list in steam for the beta to work.

Step 3 - install the dawn of war ii beta
with soulstorm registered on steam, all that?s left to do is wait for the beta to launch on 21 january. When it does it will be added to the ?my games? area as ?warhammer 40,000: Dawn of war ii ? beta?. Select the game to begin installation. You?ll need 2.3gb of free space to install. You can find out more on steam, and you can check the system specs here.

Step 4 - register with games for windows live
whilst you?re waiting for the dawn of war ii beta to install, go to http://www.gamesforwindows.com to create a free games for windows live account. If you already have a games for window live or an xbox live account, you don?t need to worry about this step as you can just log in when you start playing.

Step 5 - enter the battle!
When the beta has downloaded all that?s left to do is click the ?launch? button in steam and log into live. Once you?re in you can choose a ranked 3v3 team battle or select to host a custom public match online. If you want to familiarise yourself with the game before you jump into multiplayer you can use the custom public match to set up a battle against a computer-controlled opponent.

If you?re not a soulstorm owner, you?ll be able to get in on the action next week, on 28 january when the beta is released for all.

this game is amazing, the feel, the production. its fucking warhammer 40k.

BEST THINGS ABOUT THE GAME

-It uses good things from COH like the eldar gun platforms having firing arcs
-Suppression
-No base building just a strong base with some descent defenses, but still has a tech system and all the unit variations of an RTS.
-Tyranids is much better than CHAOS just because its different.
-Having three different commanders is cool and is like choosing your flavor in COH.
-The customization of the commanders is simple and deep enough to be interesting and fun.
-unit cap is just the right size

They also made the game more lore friendly because space marine squads are smaller to reflect how good they are. only thing is i wish tyranids were a little more numerous and weaker for their beginning units.

Best RTS i’ve ever played. dawn of war was more fun than coh, coh was a better game. and this is like more fun than both and a better game than both

Holy fuck this game has such a fantastic 3 v 3 game.

i mean the battles are epic the seesaw style wars are just too fucking incredible.

i love The Playstyles each race gots em and each one feels unique enough that you can play the same race diff commander and still have a totally different game.
