Everything you needed to know about Rick and Shane was emphasized when zombie Sophia came out of that barn.

Shane talked all that good shit, got everyone riled up, and blew away a bunch of no-name walkers… Then Sophia’s corpse came shambling out…

Everyone just had their hearts ripped out… Shane’s macho ass couldn’t even look in her direction. But Rick pulls his piece, walks up, and puts everyone out of their misery.

That to me, was the defining moment of both those characters-- Shane thinking he knows what’s right, and always acting on it, and Rick knowing what’s right, and acting when no one else can.

That’s why Shane sucks.
