Several updates have been released in the last twenty-four hours or so in regards to The Walking Dead. First off, creator Robert Kirkman told MTV News the reason that David Morrissey was cast as The Governor in season three.

“More than any other actor, David Morrissey came in and wanted to embrace everything that there is to the Governor. He knew this is a complicated character, and he knew this was a character that people are going to hate to love,” Kirkman said. “He recognized that this character is a villain. A lot of people came in and were like, ‘But he’s a good guy inside, right?’ They want that nuance, and that’s definitely important. We definitely have that. The Governor isn’t a one-note character; there are a lot of layers to that onion. But this is a sadistic guy. David Morrissey, more than any other actor, really wanted to sink his teeth into that role. He wants to embrace everything there is about the Governor.”

Morrisey beat out Oscar nominee John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone) for the role. Hawkes talked about the role, saying, “They were kind enough to show interest. It just felt like it wasn’t right for me. I think they’re going to find someone who will do a better job than I would have, and I think they’ll be happy in the end.”

Finally, an ad for The Walking Dead Season Two’s limited edition Blu-Ray set has the following description, indicating that Jon Bernthal (Shane) is likely leaving the show:

“This special limited edition Blu-Ray includes all 13 episodes on 4 discs, including bonus features such as: the making of the barn, an extended zombie gut scene, Shane’s last episode, full Comic Con coverage with panel, comic book vs episode comparison, and more!”

I think it’s a shame Dale died. Even if he seemed to get under everyone’s skin in the group, they all realized how important he was to the group when he was at death’s door. As much as the group hated to admit it, Dale was the one who tried to keep the group’s civilty intact. You need someone in your group like that, even if you never agree with them. Having someone to keep everyone from going savage cave man and beating rocks together is important. I felt pretty bad for him, actually. Poor guy couldn’t even talk at the end.

Carl is a horrible character. Not only is he a fucking brat that is trying to act hard as fuck, he is still a pussy ass kid when shit hits the fan. Show would be better off without him, actually. The only reason Carl exists on the show is to keep Rick’s morality in check. Otherwise, Carl is worthless.

All in all though I enjoyed the episode a bit. Something happened, and we got to see Daryl being Daryl along the way, which is pretty good for this show these days.
