eh no, japanese will still go to the arcade instead to play. =( bastards they are!
I really hope that VF5 sells well here in the states. More people need to be playing this game.
Also, it’s gonna be fun facing you guys online. BYAAAAAAAAAAH~!
whats the closest article to fact that we are maybe gettin online, can somebody send me in the right direction please.
Can anyone give me some good Goh BnB’s? My whole strat with him is getting in the df, df P+G grab but I know he has a decent poking game.
Check the VF5 Strat thread in “other games.”
That’s an option the Japanese have, that most of America doesn’t. I mean, is there a VF5 machine within 100 miles of me? Nope. Are there any working arcade machines, closest working modern arcade machine is probably Fayettenam, 2.5 hrs away.
There’s an arcade nearby me that has an MvC2 cab and a SvC cab. They even had a SFAE one too. Never got a chance to play on it
Well there kinda is an arcade near me. But it only has thse novelty games and one fighting game tekken 5 dr hopefully they will get vf…
Okay comments in this thread are getting weird.
If you have a strategy or tactic question please go to the “Virtua Fighter Strategy Thread” in the Other games section.
YES! YES YES YES!!! 100% CONFIRMED for the last damn time, Xbox 360 version will have online play, you can even go to sega’s official USA website and they say it. Don’t worry, you’ll get what you want.
Arcade version will be (or should be) ver. C but I maybe wrong. They go for sale sometime late August in the West.
Both Online play and an available arcade cab for purchase ARE GOOD THINGS.
Online play is for all the bums who don’t want to travel and/or people who are unlucky enough to live in BFE. It should help keep interest or cultivate interest in the game.
An Arcade cabinet for purchase means that surviving arcade culture centers in the USA now have access to VF5 (like CTF, AI, FFA, PZ, etc. etc.) which means the major arcade scenes (which almost always produce the best players in the US) will be able to try out and practice and play VF5 without having to buy stupid next gen consoles.
The only thing that Sega could do to make this better is:
#1 Make PS3 patch with ver. C (mandatory) and possibly online play (would help)
#2 Make the arcade cabinet worth a damn (chara cards, customization, VF.net)
#3 Make 360 ver godly (like VF4 EVO)
#4 Make Virtua High Grade Stick work on 360
#5 Actually try to cultivate western VF (like running or sponsoring tournaments)
Ver. C is just now coming out in arcades (in Japan), so the 360 release is only gonna be 2 months old. *technically speaking of course.
Yes because a handful of tiny niche arcades buying the arcade version will do much more for the scene than a countrywide release on “stupid next gen consoles”.
Judging by the history regarding VF4 Evo and FT, that is exactly true. Did any top US competitors come from a region that didn’t have VF cabinets?
I don’t think I single person would disagree that all the best players from any traditional fighting game (not smash) came from a region where there were arcades available.
Online play didn’t give us the edge in skill between US and Japan in 3S, CvS2, or HSF2. It isn’t going to help in VF either, however it will get more people interested and hopefully those people will travel or become dedicated to it.
I’m not saying console release on PS3 and Xbox 360 is bad, but if you are coming from a regular VF fan who JUSTS wants to play VF, than spending $600-400 just to play one game is retarded. At that rate you might as well pitch in with 4-6 other dudes you play with and buy a cabinet like the NYCVF crew did.
Believe it or not, but an arcade release in the states HELPS ALOT. Especially for the high level scene and tournament scene for the game.

there are a shitload of other vf5 vids in the matchvids thread
Two of the top 9 at EVO were from Colorado. Buuuut, they had their own two cabinets in their house lol.
Haha, yeah. Maybe the twins’ll buy a VF5 cab when it becomes available here.
I wouldnt get too hype about arcade vf. First of all i dont think many arcades wil buy it to even have an effect. only in very hotspots will you have the possibility of them being there.
Then there the fact that most people who play vf already have the game or getting wont bother to go to the arcade because the vf seen is accustomed to house meets…
Getting vf in the arcades isnt really that big a deal because most of vf’s top players wont even see it…
I’m not hyped about the arcade version, unless it’s 50/75 cents.
dam i didnt expect Lei to win, good shit
I didn’t expect you to spoil the match
