Ugghhh, the tournament didn’t happen. A ton of people didn’t show up for whatever reason. There only would have been 5 entrants and the other 4 backed out so…yeah lol. But I did get a little bit of practice in. I did pretty well in the matches except for Denver’s best player. He knows how to fight Spider-Man with Zero better than any other Zero I have faced. Also his use of the Strider assist shuts me down. I just have no clue what to do vs [S]him[/S] his Zero.
what do people say spencer is better than spiderman? i just dont see it. is it cause his easy damage.
im not an expert but i would for sure say that spencer has got a much scarier mixup game than spidey just on the fact he has a move that can be used for easy resets in his grapple without followup, and the fact he has a command grab as well. plus his unscaled grapples are disgustingly good.
plus he has really good hitboxes on his moves which make it super easy to convert off super jumps etc etc, he can combo from his ground throw etc etc. plus spencer deals with zoning a lot better than spidey i think

so… Modok might be one of spidey’s best partners… His beam assist is pretty fast (2nd fastest beam assist in the game…) and helps spidey confirm into random web throw combos… balloon bomb helps control space and greatly improves spidey’s okizeme. barrier does absolutely nothing for him… i think the most it could do is protect spidey from projectiles for a little bit… raw tag combos from spidey… working on a raw tag to spidey (just because)… i enjoy using spidey sting as a GTFO… seeing that it rarely ever gets hit out of startup for me…lol… DHCs are nice MS into HBR loops; CA into HPB KI into CA or MS (spacing dependent… ) Great color schemes… Any thoughts?
Can Spencer help Spidey? I was going to break the mold and go with Spencer/Spidey/Doom.
I think Spidey/Spencer (slant shot)/ Doom (Beam) works. Slant shot would allow Spidey to TOD with a DHC. Doom beam is great for both Spidey and Spencer on neutral.
I was messing with this synergy about a week or 2 ago. Following Crawler Assault at the end of a combo, Slant Shot with Web Zip OTG allows you to either get a second Crawler Assault, or a web throw back into the corner, granting you a second Crawler Assault that can DHC’d into Bionic Maneuvers or a second Web Throw out of the corner into Maximum Spider. It practically always sets up an opportunity to Web Throw or Crawler Assault,be it corner or mid-screen.
Slant Shot is also great for the incoming guard break setup (zip :df: from peak of normal jump height with meaty j. while calling Spencer) because you’re able to get a full combo if they’re pushing buttons, since Slant Shot pulls them to the ground.
The only issue I have with the synergy is that you can’t get a Vertical Grapple (The 80k move) following a DHC from Crawler Assault to Bionic Maneuvers; since Crawler Assault burns the wall bounce on the last hit, you have to DHC before said hit, but that’s where a huge chunk of the damage comes from. You could set up the kara sting with either Slant Shot or your third assist, especially if it’s Plasma Beam, to get a Web Throw into the corner and *then *raw tag into Spencer for the Vertical Grapple, but that’s a tad more frustrating.
There is funny stuff from mid range and closer where if you THC with either character on point, Bionic Lancer will hit first, and Crawler Assault will connect before they rise any higher for the duration of the higher combo, allowing either Spidey to Web Zip OTG after Spencer to immediately vertical grapple after the last hit of Crawler Assault.
One of the cooler tools I think Spiderman has is maximum spider. As a raw move it has its shortcomings but he is capable of confirming any hit on the screen, be it an assist or a web ball, into maximum spider.
What are the DHCs from maximum spider that lead into kills (Sougenmu, Devil Trigger, Swords?) or a great position like maybe a combo into Morrigan Astral Vision? I think this could be a strong team dynamic.

You can DHC to sphere flame right at the hard knockdown of MS and recover fast enough to pick them up with doom.
Not sure, but I think you can only do two reps from that point.
That is probably true, but it is better than just connecting a sphere flame after the Maximum Spider imo.
midscreen it’s usually two but you can get three in or close to the corner

At that point, you could’ve just gone into a regular combo and did that much damage with the 2 bars you used at the beginning.
Some spidey players have bad excecution and is better with another character and has better excecution with that character.
