thank you sir. by any chance, and I mean any chance, is there footage of any of them together? so I can see some sort of playstyle with them? because I am clueless right now to what I am doing lol but I’m glad my 3 fav work together. any advice/guidance is well

not a lot of skrull players, not a lot of spideys, not a lot of shumas. and you will barely see them together…

even if skrull is a better anchor, i’d see what he can do with mystic ray assist before putting him in the back. shuma probably doesn’t get much from stone smite to begin with.

basically see what you can do with mystic ray timings + meteor smash, or mystic ray + airdash j downH. mystic ray + orbital grudge.

Check Hi Im Nasty’s vids for Super Skrull stuff, which are now on EdmontonGamer’s channel. You can also search their archive for Skrull matches.

Spidey + Skrull or Spidey + Shuma can work, however there seems to be little synergy between Skrull and Shuma. You either need to have a team built on Shuma or have 2 very strong characters that can make the most out of his mystic ray assist (ex. Wolv, Dorm). Shuma also isn’t one of the easier characters to use effectively. You will have to devote the same amount of time to learn him as you would with Spider-Man.

I suggest you drop Shuma and get either Sentinel - drones or Doom - rocks for your third character. Both these characters work very well with Spidey and Skrull and don’t take much time to train. You can learn some important aspects of the game with either of them also; air dashes with Doom, flight cancels with Sentinel and keeping your point character safe with either through properly timed calls.

It looks like I may finally have time to start playing this game. I was thinking of using a spider man team. Is Spidey(b)/Hawkeye(a)/strider© a good team? if so what are the general strategies?

There’s so many fun characters in the game I just don’t know who to use.

spidey hawkeye strider is one of the coolest spiderman teams IMO. I just haven’t figured out what combo to do with spiderman sometimes yet, but I know it is definitely good.

strats:
hawkeye assist is very fast and great for hitting the opponent’s assists, and helping you control the ground in general. vs characters that seem to stay near the ground a lot , or when you have your opponent pinned, this assist is great to call. easy to combo off of if you are close.

strider assist is also a great assist, mostly for jumping around and annoying your opponent. it’s very nice to have against people who like to stay up in the air a lot, as now they have to worry about him flying down. there are a lot of answers to calling him, so you’ll need to protect him if you do call him, but he is good for controlling space, and spidey can convert a combo off the hard knockdown strider causes on airborne opponents.

strider is also a great assist for hawkeye, as he can convert a combo off of the hardknockdown as well, and it helps him zone w/ arrows by adding a vertical hitbox, complementing his horizontal arrows.

strider is also the best anchor in the game IMO. save your x factor for him in normal situations.

if your opponent snaps in strider and manages to kill him, you have hawkeye/spiderman. normally it is bad to have spiderman last, due to his pretty bad assists, dhc, and mediocre usage of x factor (level 3 xfactor spidey isn’t bad, it’s just other characters offer so much more there). however, hawkeye has a tricky setup involving a combo into a otg poison shot, and dhcing to ultimate web throw for a kill.

im runnin spidey/mags/wesk, imo they r really good but hey who am i to say :stuck_out_tongue: i just love how disruptor covers spidey while rushin

Spider/Hawkeye/Strider does have a lot of synergy going for it, the main problem i found (along with damage output) was that hawkeye does not DHC into strider at all, outside of level 3 anyway. Even in the corner legion will not connect after gimlet, at least i couldn’t get it too.

its vanilla mvc3 but theres a player doing some cool stuff with shuma and skrull, no spider-man but if you want to stick with that team this may give you some ideas.

Also has anyone messed around with Spidey/Strider? I already play Spidey/Doom and depending on how I do at this weekend’s tourney I may make the switch from Dante to Strider which will give me a really good anchor(once I have learned the character) and will give Doom some really good synergy(I love DoomxStrider pairing anyways) I have found ways to pick up rather easily with Spidey off of Vajira for 800k combos but outside of that can the assist extend Spidey combos at all? I can’t figure out a way to do so.

I think DeskLamp has an extended combo using vajra.

As far as combos go striders assist is only good for starting them. You can fadangle some combos to get that slight bit extra damage into web throw but since it puts the opponent in a state not ideal for Spidey it’s not that strong for him except outside combo extension

Yeah I am currently using Spidey (web ball)/Doom (beam)/Strider (vajra) and I found a way to squeeze out a little extra damage using vajra for combo extension. What I do is call vajra, cr.:h:, :s: xx TK :m: web throw. Don’t call the assist at the same time as cr.:h: though, you should hit the assist a little bit earlier so vajra hits the opponent before they flip out of the combo. I mostly do this at the end of the combo after a spider-sting/bite because that is when I have the most time to do it. You can also TK a crawler assault if you are in the corner. Here is my bnb with both assists in case you were wondering

It Oy does a bit over 800k though.
You can also use vajra to go for some resets. After web throw, you can dash, call vajra, jump, air dash, and OTG. They will be forced to block the vajra and they might cross themselves up if they forward tech or if you dash under. Something I want to try out in the training room is calling vajra before you UWT. What I am hoping will happen is either they just get caught in the UWT, or they hit you out of UWT but get hit by vajra right after. It could screw everything up and hit them before the UWT, making you completely open for a punish if they block it.

Yes I use missiles. I would be running Spidey(a)/Doom(B)/Strider(y).

Yeah Missiles help a lot with that imo. It does about 820k. The notations would be webzip otg air*:s:. st H xx web throw :l: air dash webzip otg air :s:, st M, CrH xx web swing :l:, air M, M ,:s:*, St H xx spider sting :l:, call doom missiles, cr H, :s:, air, M, H, :s:, land web zip to whiff Air :s:(to get you in the corner) then web throw H into crawler assault.

Nice. I prefer to use beam because it’s a nice lockdown assist and vajra already keeps people on the ground. Plus, plasma beam is a good counter to hidden missiles.

Yeah a lot of the time I wish I went beam. It is really useful for tagging assists as well and is really fast.

Yeah I think a lot more people would be using plasma beam if hidden missiles wasn’t so godlike. Hold on for the combo you posted up there are you doing super jump web zip OTG j.:s:, or did you mean j.:h:? I don’t think it’s possible to connect st.:h: after web zip j.:s:

It is possible. Not sure at super jump height. The timing is a bit strict but it allows a bit longer of a combo and more damage if you webzip j S to St H rather than to st M to H
