Quick tip: For the high/low mixup while calling Frank, call Frank so that he’ll start hitting right after they block a falling a j.:h: or j.:s:. This should force a fuzzy guard so that you can get an IOH on almost any character with a j.:l: or j.. That being said, once you connect a j.:l: or j.
on them, immediately cancel into a :df: Web Zip j.:h: or j.:s:, then dash as soon as you land so that you can get a crouch magic series on them that will lead to a full combo… Actually, if timed correctly, you should be able to just connect a :l: Web Throw after the Web Zip j.:h: or j.:s:… which leads to a full combo. XD
Sweet mother of jesus now I know how Airborne feels. Hawkeye is my new Spidey BFF.
airborne plays hawkeye? o.o
I meant it in how he was always advertising Dormammu in vanilla and Nova now lol
hehe yup
LOL, I love you guys.
And, I actually did play Hawkeye for a little while, but he just doesn’t feel right to me. =\ I feel like he as an anchor has to work too hard to actually reverse OCV a character. However, with my Nova, I actually feel like a threat when against 3 even after I’ve burned my X-Factor.
Also, I’ll probably continue preaching about Spidey-Dormammu in Ultimate, which is why I’m still running Dorm. XD WE GAWT MO SHIT TA WERK WITTTTT
i’m going to test spid/dorm/hawkeye, but probably stick to spid/doom/task.
spid/x23/doom [blackgold/yellow/black]
spid/doom/shuma [white/white/silver]
I’ve been having superb success with Spidey/Hawkeye/Skrull. Hawkeye’s assist helps leagues and bounds when moving around with Spiderman. Only complaint that I have is that Hawkeye is second, so this means that he gets hurt when being called and spidey dies, Hawkeye comes out weak. One thing I always hated about running the assist character second.
Yeah I run him second as well. Same deal with Cerei, but because greyhound is so fast and he spawns behind you I’m mostly ok with calling him…just gotta make sure you’re either full screen away or the opponent is in a blockstring or tagged by a zip. It’s miles better than when I tried sent second (because he sucks as an anchor but drones are godlike)…he’d always come in with like 40% health lol.
I love how I can blow up any matchup that is bad (to me at least, like vergil/dante/zero) with Gimlet, x-factor, Gimlet, Maximum Spider.
Edit: can you raw tag into a character during a combo after using their assist? Doing poison early in the combo and then hard tagging him in for another should do ridiculous meterless damage.
It’s crazy how much a beam assist like Hawkeye has improved the threat of my Spiderman and probably yours. I played a few matches yesterday and ran Spiderman by himself with two other random characters (for fun) and I hit a severe losing streak. As soon as I put in dat Hawkeye assist, those 7 golden letters came churning in. It’s nuts. Now I know why professionals will put a character on their team with a good assist that they have no idea how to use.
Yes, as long that assist’s cooldown is done. Rahsaan does that with Doom.
eh i think hawkeye is a good anchor
the poison damage isn’t amazing
not that anyone would do this, but fun fact nonetheless:
if you hard tag a character who you called as an assist earlier in the combo, you can’t call the assist of the character you switched out. the cooldown applies to the slot, not the character.
thcs also turn out kind of funny when you raw tag and if you only have two meters. if you do it fast enough after tagging the thc gets done with the other two characters (even if you tag spider man into the second slot) but 3 meter thcs don’t do this
It would be 180k damage unscaled. That’s a lot imo
This upsets me.
Hey, new Spidey user here, I’m currently trying to figure out a good team for him. At the moment I’m running Spidey(Web Ball)/Deadpool(Katana-rama)/Ammy(Cold Star), using Katana-rama for a more reliable OTG since I can’t seem to get the Web Zip OTG to work consistently off of an airthrow/Ultimate Web Throw. Any thoughts on this set up? Deadpool’s assist allows me to set up some really nice, tricky resets using UWT, but I’d be willing to switch him out if need be, since they don’t DHC too well from what I’ve tested.
If you’re using Deadpool just for the OTG assist, I’d suggest you drop him. You’re only restricting yourself by trying to get by without the OTG zip, and Spider-man still has some pretty sick UWT resets solo (they’re hard read resets, so they’re not meant to be done often).
However, if you’d still like to run Deadpool, I’d suggest Quickwork. It still has relatively nice space control, can be very useful to create unblockable setups once you’ve gotten used to the timing, and provides some pretty nice pick-ups.
Also, if you switch your order to Spidey-Ammy-Deadpool, you can DHC from Maximum Spider->Okami Shuffle->Happy Happy Trigger and Deadpool is probably a very nice anchor now that he can cancel his specials into teleport for some scary mix-ups with X-Factor lvl 3.
If you’re looking to switch Deadpool out for someone else, there’s always Doom, Dormammu, Iron Man (run him second so he gets Cold Star backing him up for some of the scariest high-low mixups in the game), Dante, Vergil, Hawkeye, Taskmaster, etc.
I suggest you practice the zip OTG, this will open your team to a wider range of viable character choices. If you’re not feeling it, just switch Ammy and Deadpool’s position.
Edit: Late
If you are good with Deadpool I think it would be really helpful if you to the horizontal or diagonal gunshot assist. The diagonal would be like the opposite of cold star.
btw deadpool doesn’t have a horizontal gun assist
