The Ultimate Dormammu Thread

You can get Level 5 Frank off either a TAC with stored Liberation (built during the combo) or just two cycles of Meteors into hard tag. Stalking Flare -> hard tag is probably the most inefficient way to do it.

That’s really interesting thanks man. This is why I’m asking :stuck_out_tongue: I didn’t realize the spell system would let you do that.

Cheers.

For reference:

Nice thanks for the followup. I’d definitely have to avoid a combo like that to justify running Dorm with Frank (or really justify Frank with Dorm, since Dorm is great without gimmicks), but it gives me something to work with. There’s another video on that guy’s channel that involves Stalking Flare into meteors that could possibly have some potential. I’m gonna mess with the spells more to broaden my options with respect to positioning and tagging and see where it goes.

Much appreciated on the ideas/input, lotta good stuff here

What’s your guys’ opinion on Dormammu/Dante/Doom? I’ve been messing with Dorm/Jam Session and really liking it, and thought adding Missiles to the mix would be ridiculous.

You’ll find some major problems dealing with ground characters + horizontal beams. Plasma Beam is arguably better to cover his horizontal weakness.

I remember that someone posted an fchamp Dormamu flowchart.
Can anyone links me to it?

I remember asking for something like this, and saying that something like it had to exist, and asked people to post and discuss their own, but if an actual FChamp chart was posted, I never saw it and now would VERY much like to. If you end up finding it, please pass it along.

What I’ve been wondering lately now is what you guys like to do during an active Stalking Flare. I know the distance determines how long it stays out, and I tend to improv it, but if there are any good specific tricks or ways to set up shop, I’d love to read about it. Charging spells is usually a good policy, but you obv can’t always get a full 3.

When the spacing is good, you can charge a few and set up a ranged assist (normally assist+carpet when I have the time), bolts for me, and that keeps them still for a 3rd charge and gives me extra time for some more pillars. Missiles and Task forward arrows should do the same for sure. Not sure about others.

When the spacing is bad and they’re about to get out, I know you’ve got disruptor, it might be a good spot to teleport when/if they get pushed to the ground.

Yeah if they’re on the ground I like to go for the disruptaport right after. Also dark matter + horrizontal assist into 2nd dark matter xx charge or hole is a nice string I use alll the time. If I feel like burning an xf, I also like to use xfc to set up a free disruptaport.

Also someon, I forget whom, recommended hard tag during a flare. Its not bad if its gonna be out a while.

This was the basic Dorm/Missiles flowchart I came up with for Dorm for ThisGuileKillYa. Dont think I ever posted it in here.

I was just re-reading that whole conversation the other day. Jiji left it as ‘to be continued…’ too! lol I’m a sucker for a good sequel.

Sorry I dont answer your questions really anymore. I just dont play Dormammu enough to really figure out and explain some good lockdown flowcharts really. Been focusing on Morrigan/Magneto/Doom for a while now. Morrigan with disruptor+missiles I feel is one of the clockest things in the game to inescapable MVC2 lockdown.

Obviously I aint mad at that. lol I ran that for a looong while, but in a different order. I tried my luck at PM-ing again since this veered into non-Dorm territory in a Dorm thread.

U can always get at least 1 charge during a flare; only thing stopping you from charging is getting hit while its out. So, in the event you are worried about that, don’t be afraid to fly too, or teleport even. As long as you have them committed to blocking, thats when you can start your offense. Same for when they (super) jump, its more about how you prepare for their landing that should scare them. Dorm has tools for the whole screen, just not the best priority. I have videos in the video thread that might give you some ideas for the dorm/mag shell.

Why does Dorm Jumping S wiff in Xfactor.

In XF1 or XF3 you should be fine. It’s XF2 where his j.S hitbox shrinks a bit and makes jump loops a risk.

Okay I’m curious about something…

I’m running an Ammy/Dorm/Shuma team and for some reason when I do Okami Shuffle > (DHC) Stalking flare > teleport > j.S it won’t knock my opponent down allowing me to continue the combo. Is this a timing thing I’m just not getting or is it hitstun related?

They need to be in a launch state otherwise the j.S won’t be a hard knockdown, do S into Okami Shuffle if you plan to DHC.

If Magneto/Dorm/Doom is a proven top team with Dormammu on it, how would it be with Zero instead of magneto?
Zero builds great ammounts of meter off of a hit much like magneto, so why isnt this team seen more often?
