The Ultimate Dormammu Thread

The focus of my game is improving Firebrand and Morrigan right now. Dormammu is already my crutch, no need to let him carry me even more! :-p

Anyway, I updated the General Strategy portion of the guide - enjoy! Feedback is welcome, like always. I’m sure these aren’t complete at all.

Online, sometimes you kinda have to. In Xfactor? No point in styling with dorm (the speed boost messes you up anyways). Unless you need meter but then that’s where those fly combos come in.

But the pros need to drop those ABCs. They’re horribly missing out.

are you using the fly unfly combo or the Dark hole fly combo?

Dark hole fly combo. Builds almost one meter by itself

I haven’t used or seen the fly unfly combo though. Maybe I just don’t remember.

X Samurai X invented it.

cr.L cr.H S > sj j.MMH fly > j.LMH unfly > upwards air dash j.MHS

Yeah, I still haven’t seen that one on video. I would love to add it to the guide.

If I had any decent recording stuff I would lay down what ever you want in a heart beat, however I don’t eve have a Youtube channel. lol

Maybe SW can if you Pm em.

Whats the damage on that unfly combo? I might try it out a couple times today

EDIT: DAMNIT! I keep hitting H when i air dash instead of M cuz im too used to dashing with it lol. Is it better to air dash with LH so you can hit M quicker?

Hmmm, now that the Heroes & Heralds cards have all been revealed, I wonder what cards will greatly benefit our Lord of the Dark Dimension.

That Nina card. Increased flight time and increased number of special moves in the air? We’ll see…

Nina, and then probably the cards that provide passive meter gain.

I duno, you guys seem to be forgetting what will be one of the most overused cards and thats projectile invincibility, which would make Dorm a lot less effective. I think Super Armor so he can throw out specials more freely and approach a lot easier will def help him out and maybe something for faster air mobility.

HH seems like it will get pretty hectic too, you are going to have to kind of throw out everything you know about the game and start from scratch.

Correct me of I’m wrong, but the only card that seems to provide projectile invincibility is the Blodia one, and it’s:

  1. Only during dashes.
  2. Only if the card is your Primary.

I think it will be much less popular than you think, because:

  1. Timing dashes to avoid projectiles takes skill. People hate skill.
  2. There are tons of awesome Primary effects out there to compete with it.

Plus, since Dormammu players throw out projectiles predictively, people are likely to be dashing into our stuff, not through it.

Super Armor for Dormammu is a bad idea unless you’re using the Ultron card as your Primary, which I’m considering just because I can’t think of anything in this game that beats a super armored Bon Voyage.

It’s early though, and I think it’s important to know the numerics behind a lot of these cards before dreaming ideas up. For example, when Mephisto’s card says it fills the HC Gauge automatically…how fast does it do it?

Watching SoCal Regionals streams right now.

One thing has surprised me is that FChamp hasn’t learned the new flight combos with Dormammu. He’s losing out on a lot of big damage with only 1 bar with that character.

I still haven’t learned them but I haven’t played the character much. Been working more on my Nova/Hawkeye/Sentinel team, until I find a team I like for Dormammu as much I liked my old Wolvie/Dorm/Akuma team back in Vanilla. I did play Dormammu in a tournament on Wednesday, mostly because the two people I played were players I knew had troubles against playing Dorm in the past.

That’s true. I wonder if he should play Dormammu on point instead of him on anchor. Dormammu with Disruptor and Drones makes FChamp even better.

This seems to be the case with a lot of the Players.

Magnus players aren’t doing the blast loops, and Doom players save for Clock Shady K & Dios X aren’t up to date, and Dromammu players are in the same boat save for Rayan hunter he loves them fly combos.

They also prob dont read forums too much since theyre spending most of their time playing. Also fly combos take some practice before you can get it as easy as a magic series. Most of their tactics are prob already embeded into their muscle memory that it will take a while for them to switch it up. Hopefully we’ll see someone start stylin with dorm soon… I think CJ and Ryan are the closest right now.

I’d put F.Champ and Eddie with the Dark Spells & jump cancel Spell combos up there as well.

Yeah you can see Eddie Lees awfully lame style in this video. This shit is fucking beautiful to watch.

Doom/Dorm lame BFF’s for life <3

For whats its worth Lees Dormammu wasn’t that lame, he knew exactly when to switch to Offense & Defense not to mention he had some nice resets. & Hagger assist + Dormammu is still a mean combo.
