Hey everybody! I wanna tell you about my own recent experiences with JR. (WOW, so many ppl are not only playing, but posting! lol. I think Iām gonna have a heart attack!, but also cos JR really KILLED me this last week). I think the ONLY reason I was beating him a few times and getting a couple perfects off him at Family was cos the sticks sucked. Heās back to slaughtering me at UCLA like when I first met/played him. The odd thing is, unlike the 4 assholes at the otherwise-AWESOME FFA, heās NICE to me and doesnāt care if I SUCK ROYALLY or not lol. He thinks Iām getting better but thatās just cos he wants to trick me and take my money haha. It drives me NUTS though! WHY oh WHY donāt ANY other Akuma players PLAY like him?!?! If they DID play that well, at least it wouldnāt seem like he has some secret about the character which I donāt know (e.g., a crazy priority bug, etc.).
I asked JR a bunch of questions. He only seemed to think that 4-5 U.S. players are really good, and he only has trouble beating the āYunā player at FFA. He says he has to get used to his patterns, which he nevertheless has; even if theyāre hard to decipher/break. He says that Vicāarguably THE best U.S. player when he was an active playerāhas trouble beating him!!! 'Now HOW can I beat him with Dudley if VIC has trouble? He also said he doesnāt have trouble fighting most Japanese players!
I asked JR about his win streaks and he said his most at FFA a long time ago was against good players like Frankie and the Yun player and it was about 75 wins. I forget about UCLA but he got about 160, I believe. He told me he made his bro Frankie AND Paul Lee cry when he beat them in tourneys and he KNOWS theyāre good. I think Paul Lee might be the best Ken player in the country overall, too! He also told me that my main charactersāDudley and Alexādonāt really have a chance against Akuma! THATāS great to know :cries:
He said that PsychoSan/David has a good Q! Iām sure his Qās better than mine, but I used to do better with Q, execution-wise.
Even if I DO beat him, itās not satisfying, cos it feels like random luck. He says I need to attack him more, but HOW do I do that when he keeps attacking me nonstop and pushing me into the corner? I donāt even think Dudley can throw him after blocking Akumaās ground hurricane kick when cornered, because he has CRAP throw range :cries: again lol. He says Vic would red-parry that, but even if I COULD consistently do that, I have plenty of other problems, fighting him.
JRās so nice, and thatās a puzzle too. I asked him if he gets tired of winning and heās always grinning and shakes his head lol. I donāt think he really brags but heās mostly just teasing me/us. He was also impressed with the Ken players throwing him to death at FFA but, again, I think he lost more there cos all their machines still donāt work as well as the 1 mere big-screen UCLA machine!!! Thatās sort of ironic (if that makes sense). I have a much easier time doing Dudleyās corner juggles on that machine, for instance but I have to practice again on my execution (I hadnāt played for about 2 months since the last time when UCLAās sticks āgave upā on us again lol.

I REALLY felt like giving up SF games because I was SO obsessed with doing better against JR, but I canāt think of a game I enjoy playing that much in a competitive sense (DAMMIT!). Itās time for me to get a NEW PASTTIME! Anyone up for a game of Scrabble or something? lol I think I could go top-tier in that game cos Iām a word-whore (and an obvious blabbermouth) :oā¦~Nick

Iāve gone up against both JR and Paul Lee and Iād say theyāre definitely at about the same level. Iād bet good money that Paul Lee would likely say the same thing.

Iāve been watching j.r./paul lee when gee-o was still the best player in the u.s. I donāt follow 3s hardcore; however, I do agree that they are about on the same level.
J.R. is good, but making other players cry? Thatās hard to believe.
