There’s a difference between everyone having an infinite and everyone having a useable one. The way XvSF played out (with it being the most pixie heavy of the VS series) meant that it was almost like everyone was running around with a ROM (except Mags who really is running around with his ROM).
P.S. VSav IMO it trumps most if not ALL other games in that list in terms of balance. Shizz shouldn’t even be disputed.

Although a majority of this game’s roster is not viable for tournament play, the fact that there isn’t a single dominant force in that upper echelon shows a different, but possibly valid form of balance. Sooooo, thoughts on MvC2? Then again, I’m somewhat ignorant of the metagame, is there one team distinctly above the rest? Just thought I’d throw a controversial topic in the mix.

Zenia+time-its not just her 46x attacks that lend itself to time. but thinking of her rushdown attacks coupled with the difficulty of her constantly getting behind you and using those rushdown attacks. makes her incredibly hard to manage.
maori+tone-hmmm. lets see. a zoning character+a zoning arcana. yeah, thats gonna be easy to get in on her for the win.
yunno what else is an easy win. facing a sentinel, doom, and ironman team in mvc2.
Kamui+ice-lets see. give a footsie driven attacker that has serious rushdown special moves an arcana that gives her even more more rushdown pressure. c’mon! try creating space from her with kamui having that set up.
fiona+earth-a character with hit stun prowess and clash cababilities having even more hit stun protection mounted on her.

Tone is not a zoning arcana. If you think it is you’re either respecting their space too much or you’re doing it wrong. Not gonna get into the MvC2 bit.
Ice gives you 3 things: a better dash, a good FB and slightly easier to do EF combos. If I am full screen from Kamui and she does an arcana move with Ice, I can either homing the icicle on reaction, or homing anyway and completely avoid the slow ass snowflake. Doesn’t work.
Earth Fiona is a troll chara. Earth super armor has many holes that people just don’t know or remember how to punish.

Even if you listed the right move there it still is wrong. You can bait the post clash Bolt special, and the regular lightning bolt is not even worth using in block strings like that.
She can do so much more with so many other Arcanas that this is worthless.

While I admittedly don’t play AH, I count at least 10 possible character+arcana combinations which should be fine for tournament play when the generally consensus it seems is that 4 is the minimum number of top tiers for a tournament viable fighter.

Amusing though to declare a game horribly imbalanced and then point to… half the cast… as gamebreakingly overpowered. Especially when your selection doesn’t even include several of the consistent top tier characters and does include characters that have been consistently labeled mid/low tier. That speaks volumes for the game’s balance.

Nah, Suija can easily run out the clock and 90% of the cast can’t do anything to pin him down. Plus he’s got an OP guessing game, if he jumps and you try to AA him he can put up that shield and then punish you bad. If he’s on the ground he has some very fast specials that can hit low or high and leave him safe.
