funniest thing i sae about oe is that they were saying rebalancing would take a huge amount of time and resources, bs. they could have made a rabalance far easier and cheaper than that, because in ts the game system is as important as character match ups (like in kof basically) unlike the sf2 and 4 series where match ups determine almost everything.

funniest thing about oe is just how easy the rebalancing would have been, cost lots of money and time my ass. giving chun 1 bar for sa 2 would take billions of yen. having geijin fill slower but deplete at the same pace would take trillions. dont even wanna know how much buffing sean would take, probably all the moey in the world wouldnt be enough./sarcasm.

You missed the point.

AE is balanced compared to Third Strike, that’s not even up for debate. This thread isn’t about your grievances with 3S, it’s about making a list of balanced games.

Difference is that he thinks that OE should have been rebalanced. I on the other hand love 3S and am fine with it being unbalanced. I’d state why, but I believe Rockefeller stated it best in his recent podcast.

OE shouldnt be rebalanced because too many people are used to it by now. does it suck that the tiers are clearly defined and it can take ALOT of work and luck to make it to the top with “low tier” characters? yes. but i think at this point, no one cares anymore and are just playing it because it was the last great SF in 2D hand drawn art.

3s is balanced. -_-. Sorry if you can’t make it around a Chun or Yun player by yourself. Get better at the game. I’ve seen Elenas at a-cho tear Yuns apart. Actually I’ve seen Tokido with sean tearing up most everyone.
3s players-at least on ggpo- constantly complain about the balance. They do want a ‘better’ game. Personally I think they should stop using 12 vs Yun and learn their matchups and their character better but w/e.
An example of a ‘broken’ Capcom game would be MvC2. Even then there are some exceptions- jwong on random select, vidness, that dude who uses ken- to the god tier dominance in this.

SSF4 (pre ae). Again, there are some bad matchups. Sorry, there are gonna be those, queen wins vs pawn a lot, deal. Personally I think eve the low tiers here are good… Although I have yet to find a tier list that is good. Honda is certainly not “god tier” in any way.

Sfa3 can be balanced among a variety of characters and isms. Just don’t pick a combination that doesn’t work. I’m really thinking of who’s terribad and juli comes to mind. Or some dumb match like x chun vs v ryu. Xism could use… Well, being more like the game its supposed to represent.

X vs SF is ok on balance to me from what I’ve seen. Even though wolverine can eat people alive here.

SFA1 is balanced-looking to me. I was really little when it was new so IDK about the actual balance. Guy is most def top of the line here though. Kind of a boring game.

Garou has some nice balance… And then there is Kevin Ryan >:|. Still, everyone has the tools to utterly own here.

I am waiting on the metagame of ssf4 ae to advance a bit further. Yun’s pretty busted, yeah, but some other characters may just need a playstyle adjustment by the players. Juri, with her true blockstirngs- ad lots of them- looks interesting to me, espec vs yun (lots of lockdown). She’s been this sort of weird, deep character ever since the game came out.

Because balance beleive it or not is not the most important thing. MSH vs Capcom is the most balanced VS. game but it’s boring as fuck. MvC2 is probably the least balanced and look at how great it is and how long it’s lasted. I hate to do this but I’m gonna quote Hav on something, instaed of just looking at how strong the Top tiers are in a game, and how many options they got and wondering why X doesn’t have y put X out of your mind. Look at the options you get out of A,B,C,D versus the W,X,Y, Z that are missing so much. If you can get more varied play styles out of A-M but N-Z is missing a ton that game is probably a better game than one where A-R can compete but only due to how lame everyone is.

balance and fun arent mutually exclusive, that missconception has to be stoped, the problem is when companies (capcom more than others) balance the chars by removing options and making everyone weaker, there are many ways to achive balance and still keep the fun factor of having strong chars with strong tools

IMO, more balanced than ST, considering we see low tiers consistently winning in tournaments. VSav is balanced enough that it deserves a spot in the top 5.

vampire savior is more than ok-ish on the balance. Its been out for 15 years and low tiers still place incredibly high. Typically the longer a game has been out, the more unbalanced it becomes because players master the matchups and figure out the game. Vsav is an incredibly rare exception.

Capcom games these days always aim @ scrubs as their target consumer. When a character is too strong, its because they have some type of dominant tool or tools. A dominant tool will always murder scrubs so instead of giving a bunch of characters dominant tools, which would allow players to murder all scrubs, they remove the stronger tools to allow scrubs to feel more comfortable. That’s why sf4 is incredibly bland and its also why mvc3 is about 10000x easier to play than mvc2.
