The Tekken 6 Thread - December 08 for PS3 JPN port, no info on US/World

** Sound system is the most advanced in recent history as well.*

I’m assuming they mean 7.1 uncompressed PCM. XD

<3 <3 <3 Bluray :lovin:

come on sony, drop that 20gb ps3 to $399.

Oh wow, no more time release characters. Awesome stuff. Also, that one last character to be revealed sounds mysterious. I can’t wait.

mysterious my ass. It’s probably another dead character that comes back for no reason.

But to be honest, I’m still hoping for Ogre.

WTF

Either they meant DR or…:wtf:

WTF, Tekken wasn’t already easy enough to get into?

“We’re trying to limit frame traps and instances where you get killed because you don’t know what your opponent is doing.”

Yomi layers be damned huh?

Namco just making all the wrong moves

Why do I get this feeling that I’m going to cringe when I finally get to play Tekken 6…can anybody here say to me honestly that Crush System+Rage Mode ='s Good???

The few good things is that execution wise it supposedly is better because it’s more strict, and jab juggles being harder which is another plus. Good gosh, I hope I’m completely wrong about Tekken6 taking a turn for the worse, but from what I’ve been reading, I’m not very pleased.

After reading the interview, this game has the potential of being the most TRASH Tekken yet!

Wonder if the emphsis of the game will be SS’ing? Since they took away the frame traps. Now that I think about it, Why don’t they just put an easy mode option like with the .Vs series while they’re at it. One button hop kick juggles.

WHAT.

Are you people really that worried about what was said in that interview?

I mean, the developers have always listened closely to the feedback from hardcore fans and they’ve shown in the past that they do listen. This game is like 60% complete or something and it’s not coming out until later this year, so there’s all this time to balance and tweak the game, which is obviously what they’re doing now.

I highly doubt the devs want Tekken 6 to suffer from Tekken 4 syndrome.

I know that T4 is the black sheep and all but how badly did it actually sell? I didn’t complain when they said all jabs are now 10F and no launch after parry because I trusted that they could still change/add some elements so that it actually was constructive of a competitive fighter. But after reading this interview, I get the feeling that Namco is inching us towards the DOA demographic. I hope I got the wrong impression from that interview. They ARE weakening yomi layers right?

And they said they would be doing any patching after the fact. If we get a piece of shit then we are stuck with it.

some ideas just sound a little too out there is all

T4 still made the greatest hits list in America so obviously it still sold no matter how the gameplay changes affected the hardcore. Casual Tekken fans see the Tekken name and grab it just because it’s Tekken.

To be honest…in the end it’s all about sales. Submitting to the hardcore gamer alone (who just wants to see strategical gameplay improvements) is not going to help Namco’s bottom line.

A prime example is how Namco is releasing a seperate Soul Calibur game exclusively for the Wii that is not even a head to head fighting game.

I hope that interview was a bit mistranslated or something and they were just saying stuff to get more people to try out the tekken series.

Yeah, just like how Namco announced that SC3 was only 50% done and from the interviews and talks of it, it didn’t sound very promising as well, I thought nothing could get more worst then SC2, yet SC3 ultimately surpassed this, making SC2 actually looking decent.

Also, T4 as bad as the character balance issues where, the game engine itself was very good, infact it took more balls to play T4 then it does T5, within T4 you saw the strongest offensive game vs. the strongest defensive game, if you didn’t know how to play defense in T4 you got killed, infact T4 to this day is the Tekken game that emphasized the most upon a defensive game.

Character individuality in T4 was far more dominant, like with Paul your always saying “can’t get knocked down and cornered.” against Nina your saying “Can’t let her runaway all the time.” with Ling your saying “don’t tech.”

In T5 crushes+juggles+wallsplat is the most ridiculous thing ever…just because I throw out a damn jab, I can suffer 70%+ damage for it…that’s just outrageous.

Even if it’s 60% done, I’m not very pleased from the 60% that is already done, because the next 40% better be some high-wire improvements to make me a believer. If I get proven wrong and T6 becomes the greatest Tekken game ever (from a game engine standpoint), I’ll eat out my words, however so far I won’t believe it.

tru dat truesephiroth.

anyways if any of you people never got into tekken because it was too hard or whatever…tekken 6 will be the easiest tekken to get into to date. Tekken 5 was really dumb, but tekken 6 will be absolutely retardedly easy to get into this time around. In a few months maybe weeks you will be going toe-to-toe with veterans and im not kidding.

IMHO Tekken has always be easy to get into, until you get into upper level playing. And we’ll have to wait until the game comes out before you can say you’ll be on veteran level play in a few months.

Agree with some guys above, we really have to wait for the final product and NAMCO is known to tweak some stuff here and there till the end.

Also with the T4 issue, besides the walls and some rediculess frame advantages for Jin (2,1, his Parry with no recovery, JFLS bla bla super duper easy damage juggels afterwards too etc.) the game was to my liking. NAMCO reworked parts in the juggle engine, tried minor inovations with the pushing insted of throwing for one button pair (which was good and bad at the same time). Furthermore Jin got a reworked fighting style and some more things changed the feeling and if the balance and wall game would have been a bit better, people wouldn’t be so mad about the game. Sure it is no T5DR or T3 but overall it was a solid game trying to evolve the series a tad bit different.
