Most important thing in SF, more important than combo execution and throw teching, is being able to aptly control the space in between you and the other character. Sagat’s weak spot on the screen is up close, just within jab range. Jab beats all of his normals, stuffs both tiger shots and tiger knee, and slowly pushes you in the corner. Everything Sagat has is designed to try to keep someone out of that zone. That’s where your fight is. Keeping me out. Being able to intelligently throw fireballs. Having decent enough footsies to stop the opponent from simply walking to close space. You have to have combo execution, because that’s the only thing you can practice alone by yourself. You have to be able to AA consistently. But something you can only learn by playing is controlling to space beyond your discomfort zone.
