How did three of you tie for first?
Those were the plans until the casuals/BBQ at my place got moved to Sunday. Didn’t you get the memo?
And Jay, you can bring veggie burgers all you want. I’ll only let you use the grill though if you decide to play me in an actual set or best to five, instead of a one match win punk out. That’s some Xbox live shit. Man up, son!
Serenity games is holding EVO streaming parties on both Saturday and Sunday. We’ll have 2 tv’s running the stream and plenty of room for casual set ups as always.

Had this been ranbats it would have gone down to total number of round loses as a tiebreaker which would have Danial and Nobody tied for first with 10-2 (4) and Tyler in third with 10-2 (7). Since this was a tourney and there would be no point given out top three decided to split the pot.

Last night was a blast! I believe that was the consensus in the room, as well. The best part was getting to play everyone, which will only help the community! Also fun to see some of the better players struggle in some of their more uncomfortable matchups and the cycle of games between the top finishers. For instance;
Tyler beats Nobody, but loses to Bob, who loses to Daniel, who loses to Psylol, who loses to Nobody, who beats Bob, who beats Psylol but loses to Daniel, who loses to Tyler.
Matches got greater as the night went on. Here are some things I remember.
-Kovacs played sloppily for most of the night, then had a good showing against Bob
-Ixus started off slowly, but got hot as the night went on, taking the last 4 or 5 matches straight
-Uberbob/ Daniel went undefeated for most of the night, only to lose as we went down to the wire
-4 fucking Blankas who all seem to play different styles!
-Psylol falls behind one match, one round one two occasions (once against Daniel), but comes back both times
-Uberbob owns twins!
-When roommates play, it can get really onesided (Ohsuplol vs Psylol)
Can’t wait to continue this with some of the better players from the community missing. The absence of Bronx, Booker, Chi, and D. Fox means that the community is missing out. The lack of Ben and level1online and BPR means no hype, no OSAN. Slyguy’s Adon is a darkhorse. I know the guy has work, but he could benefit from this if he has the opportunity. All of you have good reasons to be out, so don’t take this as a shot. Just saying the standings would fall differently if some of our better players were there, meaning I would likely sink as well. But this is the point. We need character exposure. Maybe some of us don’t lose as much if we get to play those characters more. But it works both ways. Maybe then some of our players don’t get randomed out by some scrub Honda at a local game store tourney. Not a shot, just saying this shit could help!
So maybe the first couple shouldn’t be a character lock as we get into things. At some point down the road, though, maybe every odd RR, we do character locks so everyone has the chance to play in their good and bad matchups. My suggestion, though, to players is to keep it to 2 characters. The few characters you use, the greater chance you have to learn and develop that character in the trenches.
Also, since the majority of the showers get there pretty early, maybe we try to get it started around 6:15 instead of 7:15 so we don’t end up running so late and possibly deter people. Of course everyone may not be able to get there early enough. Those people can arrive late (call or text and maybe arrive no later than 7:30), and we just get every other match out of the way, then run the gauntlet for them (let them sit at the seat and play all of their matches to make up).
Have a gauntlet special, where one player at each RR plays all of their matches in a row. It gives that player an opportunity to roll with the momentum of positive gameplay. If they’re playing well, they can stay in that rhythm and try to make it carry from match to match. If they’re not playing well, they can make an effort to shake the bad habits immediately and get into a good rhythm.
Maybe don’t have MvC and AE on the same night. I felt bad for Brian making the trip for no reason essentially. If we figure that Tuesday is the night for AE, maybe we do Sundays for MvC. I know St. Pete is a bit of a drive for some of us (myself included), but it’s nothing that the St. Pete crew doesn’t do to get to Tampa to support the community. With this being a semimonthly thing, going every week is not being asked. But going twice a week, twice a month, should possibly be more feasible for some of us.
Nah I missed it. But I’m way down either way. Serenity on Saturday, then Rob’s on Sunday sounds great to me. Games, BBQ, chilling. A blast son!

Character exposure works both ways including play style. I’ve played
Iterally CJ truth about 1000 times but he plays other hondas it’s a totally different match up.
And there are FIVE blanks now? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I get hard just thinking of all the hands I can lay on that.
I’m sitting here practicing MvC3 and it’s so blah to me. I look at the character list and no one interests me really. I’ll just play the team I have til Ultimate.
Meanwhile, Isaac. MvC3 is losing my interest. Know what that means?

13 player RR tourney on 3 set ups in 3ish hours was pretty good… I think we’ll be able to run AE & MVC3 with an extra 2-3 setups in a decent amount of time… now as part owner of Serenity i’ll keep the shop open as long as it take to complete the Ranbats and allow for the latest start possible to allow more people in the community to be able to make it on a Tuesday night… the Ranbats on Saturday and Sunday will have a earlier start time for sure thou…
If we start earlier that 6:30ish, I’m going to need help with money collections and the setting up of the RR. If Bracket Girl confirms she’ll be there on Tuesdays, she is way more than capable to run it and we can certainly do an earlier start time (hint, wink, nudge).
