I dunno if you should force yourself to play any of those gay anime games, but I actually play those games. I like fighting games in general and enjoy them a lot but seeing the tournament/competitive scene and SRK etc it’s hard to not keep playing Marvel and SF4 and make friends in the community. I don’t hate these games at all, it’s just hard to ignore their strength and say “Yo mang imma play amine” in a city without a big enough scene for those other games. That said, I’ve been trying to find Arcana Heart or anime game in general players in the Tampa Bay area but it doesn’t seem like any people play those kinds of games here. Closest place is Orlando but 3 hour trips would kill me.
I also have a modded ps2 memcard with copies of Melty, GGAC+, KoF2k2UM and HnK lying around but no ps2 sticks lol

Nah I actually really do enjoy those games, I just pretend to hate on them and call them gay animu games. I’m in a similar situation as you on the ps2 stuff actually, I have a modded memory card and copies of a handful of games (even though I have to use my swap magic for half the games because I’ve been too lazy to burn ESR patched versions of them lmao), but nobody to play any of them with. One of our livingston’s regulars, Tom, has like 3 ps2 sticks, and has been bringing 2 of them each week, and my stick is MC cthulu modded so it’s usable on pretty much any relevant console. If you can make it out on wednesdays, I’d love to play and learn more about gg, melty, arcana, bb, etc. I know Tom is a strong cvs2 and mvc2 player as well, but I don’t know anything at all about either of those games.
