I think S2 Necalli is better than S1. its just there are better characters. His throw game is way better now. He may be the best character not named urien, rog, laura or guile. He only seems to truly suffer against Rog, but im not sure. He benefits from the fact that he can always change his game plan, he simply will never have a 7-3 against him.

And after having buffed gief to compete with sim, you have to go back and buff rog… then you have to buff sim again… then you have to buff gief again… then you have to buff rog…
I don’t really think you thought this through.
If balance were that easily obvious everyone would have balanced games… lol.
Even if we stopped at the first balance tree that you propose, we’d still have a buffed gief running through the cast when lots of Japanese already think he’s top tier.
That way of balancing don’t cut the mustard.
Fallout as a series is solid. But screw that, play The Witcher 3 instead. Infinitely better RPG.

Turns me into the best R. Mika player that walked the earth
it’s okay for individual matchups to be bad if the game as a whole feels better. Don’t pick a grappler if you don’t want to get zoned out IMO.
I worship at the tree of Yakuza 0 now…
its got juicy girls, karaoke, disco, fight club, shady real estate ect. ect… seriously a real model for semi open world RPGs going forward. I mean monkey stomping a dude and having money fly out of his ass is the tits.
oh and the soundtrack is fucking godlike.

Certain matchups just have to be bad out of the nature of their spacing and parameters. Like grapplers vs zoners. Buffing Gief to do better vs Sim inevitably only makes him more ridiculous vs characters he already controls well.
So after taking about 20 straight Ls with Alex in Casual Match I feel like I’m starting to piece a couple of things together. Being literally only playing Ryu for so long has been bad for me, need to learn a bit more about how the game works instead of just guess work from the other side.

that’s why I can’t stand 90% of “open-world” games. depth > breadth; I don’t care if there’s 10,000 side quests if all of them are variations of the same 10 missions. and OOH you can play a crappy minigame or two on the side, how exciting.
screen position and spacing are crucially important for sim - even more so than for somebody like guile - so the ability to get in on him with a move that’s safe on block AND very difficult to stuff basically shuts down his gameplan. sim’s up-close buttons aren’t bad, but he lacks the walk speed to utilize them well, and the lack of a credible CC, cross-up, or dash-in threat mainly renders sim a sitting duck once you close in on him. usually the only way sim gets out is by pressing a button at a lucky time, and if he presses a button at an *unlucky * time he’s likely eating a full CC combo and landing in the corner.
even non-EX dash punches are a problem for sim since even though they can be stuffed more easily than EX, it’s risky to try to stuff them when a blocked limb gives rog enough advantage to EX dash his way in. plus sim’s poor walk speed makes it hard to space yourself properly. V-skill is theoretically sim’s key moving around and fighting rog in neutral, but its hurtbox sucks so if you do it close to the ground you get dash punched. gotta jump first and then float, at which point you’re committed to being airborne for a while. j.LP is good against rog’s options at that point, but the reward is minimal and if rog just sits waits it out he can often punish sim as he returns to the ground.
He won as many tournaments as Laura did. Just saying.
I mean he placed top 8 consistently in tournaments and ended 9th place at Capcup, but maybe he always just attended bad tournaments?

I don’t touch that garbage either. Been playing SFIV instead, only issue is the bad netcode but overall plays better. Go play SFIV and tell me that shoto cr.mk and being able to whiff punish from far out with sweeps doesn’t feel fucking glorious.

Exactly. As long as it isn’t unwinnable, it’s ok for certain archetypes to be polarizing. Zoners themselves also tend to have this issue.

even if lopsided matchups are inevitable, SFV’s 2-dimensional character design makes them a lot more frustrating than they should be
See you next week when Kolin drops

Bring all your smurph accounts to casuals!
Big pull to the Fallout series for me is simply the setting.
In terms of classic fantasy rpgs I absolutely agree that the Witcher 2+3 are the cream of the crop, but heck I fucking love Mad Max so much that the post apocalyptic setting of Fallout is something I highly appreciate.
I like William Gibsonish cyberpunk even more though, so as soon as Cyberpunk 2077 hits the shelves I’ll say “Fuck you” to Fallout as well.
I can honestly say that the PC mods for SFV irk me. Shit feels so inconsistent because of how many people make mods for the game. I know V is the best looking SF but I’m very satisfied with how most of the game looks baring Kens face.

hell yeah
also we are LONG overdue for a high quality cyberpunk MMO
maybe they’re just saving that shit for VR lol
Got motion sickness, so I’m crossing my fingers that Cyberpunk is gonna be 3rd person, no VR shit included.
Had to play Bethesda Fallout games in 3rd person, and very slowly to not get the urge to puke all over the place.
