You’re right I totally remember all those dominant Cammy and Seth performances in late Vanilla SFIV…oh wait. I don’t.
I say that if you’re equating strong set play to a true vortex that you’re moving the goal posts on this discussion.
As much as I hate using tournament results to try to prove a point but looking at Evo results the IMO most vortex heavy top 8 occurred in 2011 (second year of SSFIV) with 2.5 C. Vipers, an Akuma and a Seth being represented. Also, even if at one point the SFIV series was centered around vortex play that sure as shit isn’t how things played out in Ultra. I would also concede that this is where separating character from player is difficult as once you get past Vanilla SFIV the only time Akuma sees top 8 representation it’s one or both of two players (Infiltration or Tokido) every time.
Evo 2014 GF: Rose vs. Sagat
Evo 2015 GF: Ken vs. Adon
Aside: I would like to thank Inflitration and Sako for really messing up the character counts by using so many different characters. -_-
When Super came out Akuma’s vortex took a nerf bat to the dome and while you can pretend that people fleshed out the myriad of BS with Ibuki on Day 1 that simply isn’t the case.
This was not a point of disagreement. You said that SFV seems to be well on its way to being figured out and I agreed. It’s a simpler game than SFIV and the distribution of information occurs much more rapidly these days than it did when SFIV came out. What we’ve been disagreeing on is the degree to which SFIV had gotten sorted by a comparable point in its lifetime.
@“Nobus3r1 ver. 2.0” EVO 2015 GF was Evil Ryu vs Adon
true true. But if I was a Nash player, I’d still put my chips down on the upcoming balance patch. : P
I’m working on the oki of all characters and I made some hilarious findings. I hope to finish the work by tonight.

Not really, Momchi started with Ken but when things didn’t work out well, he then decided to tier whore with E.Ryu to grab the W.
You have joined Neclord and Hawkingbird as my 3rd favorite person here. I was just abut to write exactly this.

…that’s such a nasty term…why can’t we just say they picked a top character? That’s not a bad thing, after all.

You can shimmy that. He needs to stop being ass.
Also:
playing a character you like or is fun to you is fine.
playing a character because they’re objectively top/compliment your personal strengths for the sake of winning is fine too.
shaming others for their picks/switching their picks is not fine. those that do need to grow up and broaden their perspective.

Been meaning to ask you, right now we’re working on some long term projects for the FGC in El Paso.
how much would have to be in the pot for SF5 for your bum ass to leave shitty Odessa and come get some Chico’s?
depends on timing. i don’t have reliable transportation otherwise I’d be driving all over Texas to train
How come they removed Cammy’s protruding nipples but left Chun-Li’s in?

What an absolute joke of a company. Someone needs to get fired.

The salt in this video is amazing.
The move is retarded but getting huge damage from a simple poke isn’t just a SF5 thing.
Remember lvl 1 focus causing a crumple.
Remember Evil Ryu get 300+ damage or more from a single cr.MK into hadouken block string that was totally safe.
Remember F23 from Injustice?
This shit has been in fighting games forever. Safe long range pokes that lead to damage have always existed in fighting games.
f23 is truth
f23 is light
f23 is the way
