He is definitely the fourth character fits Capcoms MO. Fans want two former Mad Gear characters Poison, Rolento, and Sodom the most Capcom tells us thet wont fit in SFV current story in season 1. Then for Season 2 give us a Mad Gear character nobody likes whose niche is already filled by Hugo. After he comes out nobody is happy except Capcom.
I don’t know who that character is, but those arms are ridiculous. It looks like his spine will break if he tilts sideways.
Not to mention he’s probably a grappler. We got Gief, Alex, Mika and to a lesser extent, Laura. There’s barely enough room for another grappler, but Capcom won’t get a good and unique enough design at this point.
Nah doesn’t really make sense because Capcom redesigns older characters movesets more often then not in SFV. I doubt all nine people who played Sodom in the Alpha games would flip out if his moveset were altered for example assuming he were still a grappler. Meanwhile the many people who like the character for design or lore reasons are happy with him being back.
Abigail is a nod to Final Fight that won’t please anybody if he is a grappler. cue SFV has too many grapplers complaints x1000000 that will pop up online, And people who like FInal Fight characters in SF will wonder why it wasn’t Sodom or Hugo if they wanted a large character. Or Maki if they wanted a FF character would be completely fresh to Street Fighter. So now with him the best Capcom can hope for is indifference.
While he wouldn’t be my first choice, Abigail was the biggest bad ass in Final Fight. He didn’t need swords, back up, grenades, batons, crossbows, etc. He just needed his bare hands to wreck you. Plus he reminded me of this guy.
I give them credit if true he is a very under the radar pick. However Abigail getting added will make people ask about Cody, Guy, Haggar, and Maki along with the other Mad Gear members.
" Why add a villainous Final Fight character without having any of the heroes? "
It doesn’t make much sense. This is just going to cause the fanbase more disappointment and dread in the future with the fanbase’s character picks wanting a half dozen FF characters as each season starting with three will feel like the last IMO unless Capcom overhauls the game between now and early 2018.
