TakuyaSugi and other good Alex players use LP Chop to negate fireballs whenever I play them as Ryu. 2/3-Fullscreen zoning doesn’t really work as freely as you’d think and it simultaneously closes the gap/stuffs fireballs after 2 chops. Obviously that’s not an option up close but that’s whatever because that’s where Alex wants to be anyway.
Laura and Mika don’t have options as you said but they deserve to die anyway. Good.

Finals for one of the years was Rose vs Sagat in a fireball war. We can’t even get a decent one going in a Ryu mirror.
So nah, fuck all that. Ryu and Sagat threw a he’ll lot of hadoukens in vanilla; people complained Guile and Dhalsim into oblivion; AE was wack; 2012 had Guile, Rose, infiltration’s akuma (which spent a lot of time throwing hadoukens), eh w/e.
Most of the projectiles in this game are more pressure tools than zoning devices.
