Yo your friend knows what’s up. It is pretty idiotic. If they aren’t gonna buff them they should at least do 10-20 more damage than regular pokes. Clawless stance having better buttons makes no sense.
I strongly prefer Claw Stance, but it’s barely functional. Subpar hit/hurt boxes, slow start up on normals, and only one cancelable non-jab move. For fucks sake his Claw st.jab is 5 frames and whiffs on crouchers? Foh Capcom.
If ASE wasn’t so bomb, I would literally never use that stance.
Alright made it to Platinum with Ibuki. Now I’m gonna focus on sharpening my game outside of ranked for a while. I’ll just stay a fraud ass 7560LP Plat. Wanna be in Super or Ultra Plat by the end of August so I can be really in tune with fighting lots of different types of players and characters. I’ll have to get some sets in with you guys pretty soon.
Here’s a match I played yesterday with an old school online player GimmeThemShoes. Used to play with him like 13 years ago on the original Xbox Live CVS2. He was playing KI for a bit also.
if you’re doing random neutral ex wall dives sure, but comboing into it is the primary way you use it. I think the additional comboability slightly outweighs people not knowing how to stuff walldives
Honestly if cr.MP was cancelable in claw, I would use it more. Cause then I could do shit like cr.mk -> cr.mp xxx ex crimson terror from max range. That is honestly the only change I need.
Standing medium punch shouldn’t be 8 frames neither. Why the fuck is a medium button 8 frames? That shit is dumb. Meanwhile Cammy has a 6 frame standing fierce. Fuck outta here. The only reason I use that shit is because of the range. A nigga be swiping like it’s tinder out this bitch.
ASE is the shit though. If I have claw on I don’t even bother to v-trigger into CA.
CC HK -> St.HP xxx LP/MP ASE xxx CA does 498 damage which is almost 50% on normal life chars and greater than 50% for anyone with 950HP or below. Half of 950 is 475 so yeah. Btw counter hit j.HP and j.HK do the same amount of damage as CC st.HK so landing those jump ins on CH is like getting a CC when it comes to the numbers adding up.
498 is more than raw v-trigger into CA (480 iirc) and the only v-trigger into CA combos that do more damage than that are in clawless or CC HK -> St.hk xxx bloody kiss -> CA which does 506. But wasting using your v-trigger for 8 more damage is not smart. Especially when you can cause 50% damage and keep your V-trigger stocked. So not only have you done massive damage, your opponent still has to worry about your V-trigger.
Of course you do random ex walldives, especially near corners. If purely comboing into it is the primary way you use it then you are using it wrong. If you get bopped, you take 60 damage. If they block, you are +4 infront of them(and of course, ex walldive claw punch is less plus than clawless keeping with trends), and if you get it right its up to 350+ damage and a billion stun. The rewards far far far outweigh the risks and its why Nemo is the best Vega in japan because he abuses that fact like crazy.
I guess i’m just used to playing people who stuff it. I don’t think it’s a long term strategy, but a good short term one. Nemo looked extremely vulnerable in top 16 at evo.
Also claw st.lp just needs to not whiff vs. crouchers, and cr.mp needs less hurtbox, and the stance is basically fixed.
Try stuffing it when you are waking up, its already 90% descended on you and also have to guess which side it hits on. There is many setups for this on top of many many more gimmicks which you will never stop on raw reaction the first time you see it.
