People come here to talk about other games because no one is talking about those games in those threads. I check the tekken thread daily and there is really never anything new.

He isn’t mashing buttons for no reason. His jabs are part of a game plan consisting of masking fireballs with in turn let him occupy space and play his own game.
I don’t know if the Laura player was really pushing random buttons; if he was, maybe he was actually a bad player who got to Plat by RQing.
(As a side note, Chun is Laura’s worst MU. I wouldn’t be surprised if a high ranked Gief still loses to 2 day Sims)
@Necrotrophic My bad, incorrect use of “netcode”, but I’m pretty sure you know what I mean. Online play has many issues at the moment, but whatever. Even assuming its good, its still online play bottom line. People really do think online experience is everything. As someone who doesn’t play online much (although I beat trashy plat players constantly when I do), I just can’t understand that perspective.
People apparently have absolutely nothing better to do. I just got out of surgery, thats why I’m on this sub-forum right now lol. As for others, I guess they just enjoy being bitter.
Just catching up with this stuff - thanks for the feedback on the head mod attempt, there are still a lot of things still to be done and I am glad I posted a progress shot to get a sense of people’s reaction to it ! I gathered a lot of great data already.
Some clarification regarding the expression: deformation assignments are still only bound to the jaw at the moment, meaning that in its current WIP state the character can talk but is mostly expressionless. from there I have to test out if I can either assign things to the original deformers (which would probably mean that the original shit eating grin will creep back in …), or bake in a carefully sculpted expression. Or … a mix of the two.

Capcom give what people want in a personal manner. People here need to give a look at the old SF4 GD where people complain daily because this character has X or how FA destroyed the footsies. Then mama Capcom remove on purpose all the shit people bitchin at. Now the game is almost plain like a car without no even an air conditioner. And people still bitchin. The metagame now is simplified at a point that there’s no lab rats posting videos on YT with OMG tech anymore,because the bullshit level on this game is at minimum.
The fact is people miss the bullshit they complain for years.
If wins and losses reflect what works then obviously what this laura does worked.
They got to super platinum. Do you realize how many points you lose at that level?

I understand what you’re saying, but I still maintain that offline and online are quite different, and that its really not difficult to get platinum online. Becoming a top-ranked player offline is not the same at all.

Yeah guilty gear and other ASW games seem to do a lot better in japan than in the west.
At the SF 5 talk kind of given up on ever getting the game. Just too expensive. It can be to fun to watch at times though.

They must be playing shitty players or ragequitting then, because you were obviously able to take advantage with a char you’d only been playing for a few days?
I can’t think of many times when resorting to jumping/stupidity has helped my opponent more than it’s helped me.
It is not just this Laura whom you faced. I was against a 12k Chun today who could not stop pressing buttons or trying something. I beat him soundly that time, but this happens in a lot of match-ups. It is not a fun meta.
I would play smash if it didn’t suck. Too bad it does.
