I’m just amazed at how Capcom took the character that was widely considered the worst in season 1 and changed him in such ways that his players consider him worse than that.
Meanwhile Necalli, Cammy and Urien are the same or stronger.
I want to know which game is Capcom even watching, or what do they see that we don’t.
Necalli got two good buffs. His throw loops are easier now (sigh) and in V-trigger his Berserker Barrage is only -4 on block. So if you space it right it’s safe against a majority of characters.
I just think people need to come to grips with the fact the Japanese battle team dont understand the game nearly as well as you’d hope to make the correct choices.
I have been thinking Fang is a joke character never meant to win tourneys. That is the only thing that makes sense.
But then I look at characters like Juri and how she is just a worse more complicated Cammy and the fact they can’t decide what the hell to do with Nash and I feel they need to stop outsourcing their balancing.
maybe they balanced according to the general consensus of online?
Alex and nash are definitely scrub killers online
I dunno
It really doesnt make sense why they nerfed alex at all
The damage was never the problem with his Stomps. The problem was that he could frame-trap you for free and the Stomps were very safe on block.
I’m thankful that his Jab AA was nerfed (it’s still there sadly but it’s more for catching neutral jumps now) but the damage nerf is hardly noticeable and he can still go in and be Necalli by mashing out HK, fullscreen dash in while in V-Trigger, and Medium into Medium stomp, and mixing you up in the corner for free.
Alex was just a bad character. The only thing he had that was good was his cr.MP, his damage, and his 50/50 from the V-Trigger. That was it. His cr.MP is now ass but he still has damage and the 50/50 so yay?
Nash was just an easy character. Dude’s just played him like a shoto and they could win just by playing lame and relying on wakeup V-Trigger online.
Eh, Necalli is worse off this season. He can’t get any real pressure after a forward throw unless he’s in the corner or in VT, he does less damage, got the universal DP nerf, and his st.lp AA is worse. The stomp buff is so marginal as to be nonexistent, his charged overhead is kind of useless, a minor damage buff on command throws ain’t great, and his new st.mp -> st.mk combo requires you to be point blank off a button that is now 0 on block.
He’s still quite good and I’m fairly satisfied with him. I do wish they’d have given EX Stomps a real buff to the forward hitbox so it would reliably combo after st.mp but other than that I’m okay with how he turned out.
Alex was not a bad character. He was a wall/bully character like Birdie meets Balrog; you really didn’t want to rush down with him but instead play D. His stomps and headcrush were gimmicks at best. Capcom decided they didn’t like him playing as a wall/bully so they nerfed literally everything that let him do that (st.lp, ex knee, cr.mp, cr.mk, LK Slash) in exchange for playing up the gimmick aspects. If you wanted to play a rushdown/gimmick character he’s better for you now, but I think he’s worse off for it. I understand part of the design philosophy here, that they didn’t want any dead special moves as Stomp and Headcrush kind of were, but they just don’t fit that well into a well designed character.
I think Arcade Edition proves that they don’t know what they’re doing. So the only solution is to voice complaints loudly enough that they listen but seeing as this is Cap(rootkit)Com and their priorities seem to be on Marvel Infinite for the rest of the year. So I don’t know.
Capcom is very fortunate that fighting games are niche because if this is was COD or a Valve game then the outrage would have been overwhelming.
I was on a massive killing spree until I lost to a Silver keep-away Bison that I just got too impatient playing against. It wasn’t until I hit Gold that I noticed the average player was actually blocking, knew BNB’s, and didn’t mash SRK on wakeup all the time.
Sidebar: I think most Urien players are mentally retarded. I’m not saying that Urien is retarded but just the majority of players using him. This runs the gamut from Platinum to Diamond players, but retards really like doing wakeup EX Headbutt even though it’s easy as fuck to bait. This is just something I notice and partly the reason why I love and hate fighting Urien’s.
Second Sidebar: Am I the only one that thinks it’s better to start with a new account if you want to learn a new character? You know that whole learning from the bottom up philosophy? I’m tempted to start over with Necalli. I love Mika but fighting fireball zoners and Karin is such a pain in the ass. I hate that the zoners instantly dictate the match while Karin just sits there and throw out her best pokes like Sweep, MK, HK, V-Skill, and Orochi and they all beat my buttons.
Fuck her lp fireball… that shit comes out stick out a long button… with Gief is cr lp, with Rog it’s sweep or cr mp take the trade or win clean on the sweep. Don’t let that bitch get going no matter what.
Statistically it was Bison. He had a 60%+ win rate at the lower LP levels. His win rate tanked the higher he went. It might be why he was not buffed to the same extent as Laura or Urien.
Capcom never understands the game “nearly as well” as random, faceless forum monsters who have never balanced a commercial fighting game in their lives.
Until the next game comes out, of course.
Then suddenly, the game that was called rubbish becomes a masterpiece.
