I don’t see how it would be Iori lol. If it were true, KOF fans would be in a huge disappointment in how they will change him. Rekkas would only be accessed in V-Trigger and drains per rekka, his TACO would have one of the hugest hurtbox in the game, his St.Roundhouse (or 5D in KOF terms) would be like -5 and 15 frames of start-up.
The only thing that would stay the same is his Sweep or 2D… since it’s notoriously punishable.
There’s just one problem. While Akuma’s super has 8 frame start-up, the anti-air hit doesn’t appear until frame 18 (and can’t hit airborne opponents until that frame) and he loses his invincibility on frame 12.
Meanwhile Urien gets a 5 frame Super that has just as good of a vertical hitbox, covers cross-ups and is completely invincible while active.
I do but iv been trying to find a new character lately. Been enjoying Balrog alot.
Gief beat Laura in season 1 but she was still annoying to fight. And now shes even better yuck. I dont have any real matchup advice but i can play you sometime if you want
Whiff punishing should be easier for sure, given how many moves have been slowed down or had their hurtboxes extended. My worry is that there still won’t be much incentive to play footsies if jumping remains as good as it was in S1. Some characters got AA nerfs, some got AA buffs, and some got both, so it’s hard for me to tell right now. On the other hand, the reward for a successful jump-in should be somewhat lower now that most characters’s damage and oki have been nerfed.
What do y’all think? Is there any conceivable way jumping ends up weaker in S2 than it was in S1? I’m thinking most likely not, but I want to hold out hope.
