NRS does that SRK meme of “every character should be really strong.” Im suprised more of you guys dont like them.

If not for them always having some terribly broken character, I’d really like their games. They actually do have footsies and zoning, it just doesnt work like streetfighter.

I will say that the way injustice moves is really awkward. You can tell the engine is built around a block button, then they just take it out so its not the same as mk.

I never played MK9 or MKX but the number of characters in Injustice 1 who could have something waiting for you on wake-up that was comparable to Millia’s disc is staggering. That said, my personal bane (-_-) in that game was Doomday. Mother fucking d.1 xx Earth Shake all day. Every day. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to have a move be an overhead and a low?

Even a bad low tier nrs char has more options than any sf char. Options are fun!!!

So apparently Akuma has a hitbox on his taunt, AND a hitbox when he stomps the ground during his neutral animation. The latter is on the foot behind him though so you’ll probably never see it actually land.

I added the frame data for his taunt. Since you can cancel the taunt into literally anything after the hitbox connects, and it launches, you can combo off of it. Should be fun to finish off a dizzied opponent.

Dunno the point of the standing one but it’s a nice touch.

Thats kinda what happens when you make everybody dumb. The best character ends up way stronger than the low tiers. Its really hard to balance a game like that.

I think most people who say they want all strong characters dont get that it creates a larger variance in viability. They want all strong plus balance.

Xrd may not be perfectly balanced but given how radically different each character plays in that game I’d say they did a very good job. Universal mechanics seem like the best way to allow diverse character archetypes without some archetypes just hard countering others.

Think this is the big deal. The answer to most bullshit in the game needs to be found in the universal mechanics or in a property of a move every character has. Example most really powerful horizontal buttons are low profilable or can be beat with attacks that have upper body invuln. Every character has at least 1 of those types of moves so if they have the right read even the strongest horizontal game can be blown up.
