Let’s use a Ryu mirror match for example. Ryu’s c.MP is 5 frame startup, and his sweep is 7 frames. If he throws out a c.MP and you block it, it puts him at +2 block advantage. So if you throw out your c.MP after and he throws out his sweep, then yes he will beat you clean because his sweep will already be on it’s 3rd frame of startup by the time your c.MP starts. Both normals will hit at the same frame.
You would need to use s.LK for example, to stuff his sweep since it will come out 1 frame earlier with 4 frame startup. Or just block :).

Well, thanks for the tips to all those that tipped me the good tip. So a branch question. Does the 3 frame button buffer also work outside combos? As in, if I tap a button 3 frames before I’m out of blockstun, will it come out on the first possible frame? I fidgeted with bison’s sk in training and like 18 out of 20 times if I just straight mashed mp like crazy during blockstun i’d land a counterhit. I think i’ll stop trying to single tap and just resort to the mash. Won’t hurt my ego much, after seeing like half the people do it during the daigo stream XD
Yes, the 3f buffer works afte any hardened state (BS, HS, wake-up, dashing etc etc.) It’s a wonderful tool. If it’s buffered anything will act as a reversal.
Dashes can be buffered from the 9th frame
Specials can buffered on the 6f frame
Normals (including command normals), can be buffered on the 3rd frame
Holy LOL, thanks, I was completely unaware of that. What I had understood from combofiend’s stream of news during the game’s development is that the buffer was for linking normals, nothing else. This makes so much shit clear now.

Karin sweeps her opponent. They then do a back rise, karin buffers her dash from her sweep (16f dash) which then buffers into st.hk (10f), the opponent wants to mash their 3f jab. The st.hk comes out, boom CC’ed. Since a back rise is an extra 5 frames (25f total frames) then they go to jab with a 3f, they wouldn’t be able to do anything because they wouldn’t be able to start attacking til the 28th frame. And the dash buffer into st.hk buffer would take place on the 26th frame. So the only thing that can beat you then is 1f armor moves or invincibles.
Did it? I sometimes got a “there is a new message from the server” notification but when I looked through the message log I din’t see anything but reports of unlocked stuff. I changed the filters and didn’t see anything that way either except for the EULA and the menu tutorials.
I got the message about maintenance today when I loaded up the game, then when it froze and I had to reboot it showed me the same message… So it definitely warned me at least
You don’t think it’s just even a little bit strange that literally thousands of people have been left in the dark for a week with multiple problems and in that time they decided to sign up for EVO.
I hope it does do well to be honest, it’s getting dragged through mud everywhere I look. I don’t really care though, there’s enough people interested in my area that it should stick.
